I bought the Mt Rainier Summit Extended. Plan on sleeping with the wife and kiddos, so I wanted a big tent.

Edit: I am very pleased with the rack. I was looking at the BAMF too but they didn’t have quite what I wanted for the long bed.

I don't have a traditional tent that folds open. My tent is made for a full roof like a 4runner or a Jeep. I have a long bed, but I bought a short bed rack. I need space to get the clips out from the front of my tent. The long bed rack, went right up next to the cab, like the picture.

My tent is 7" longer than the long bed. And I have a swingout. So i needed the bed rack to be at least 17" above the bed sides. I didnt want it to be too tall (like I had it on my cap). I want the tent to be very close to the height of the plano box on top of my Prinsu. So I sold the cap, and ordered the rack.

Also, you can see how the tent opens. I dont have a zipper to take the cover off. Its several J hooks

That thing is 4k! Lol i was thinking this but it says roof top tent... maybe it was designed to be higher and not mounted lower on a bed rack... any input?

Hello all, I am finally a part of the club! Bed rack is done and secured thanks to tacomaworld member - sorry I forgot who I got the idea from! I will be securing the tent in the same way.
Initial impression- tent is great, everything is well set up and well made. No metal shavings or missing parts. All holes drilled and clean. I am very happy with the tent. (Smittybilt 2783 Overlander). Cheers

Factory... had to bend those to get them to fit. You could just get the longer hardware (70mm) and maintain the factory mounts but I prefer the exhaust clamps as they fit the round bars more snug!

COOL! You may already do this, but if you secured it with pins on one side, your bushings on the other side would act like hinges. You could raise it up on one side for access to the bed. It would be a little heavy with the RTT on it, but doable.

That's what I do. Except I use bolts instead of pins so it doesn't rattle

Is it pretty easy to lift up?

We've built spare tire racks for the back of cages in trucks / Broncos using the bushing hinge method several times.

Took the taco and tent out for a quick break in trip at Lake Pleasant AZ. Was comfy except for the wife waking up every time a coyote howled, burro walked by, or dog barked! She of course had to wake me up to relay her concerns.

my interior and exterior lighting situation. I bought two of each. Going to put it on the base facing down below the tent when open for some ground lighting. Then the other inside on the center bow to light up the tent and have the cord ran to the pocket so the switch is easily accessible.
