if its a good shop they should be able to blend and match it very well .. silver , pearl coat , and certain metalics are the worst to paint

I did look over the truck. Noticed the blemish on the side of the truck a day later. The other issues on the hood and truck did not appear for several more days. Kind of too late to negotiate then wouldn't you say...

Does your state have a Lemon Law? If you follow a history of your truck from manufacture to your dealership, it may have been in a flood zone if there is a musty odor and why would a sub contractor paint your truck? A sub contractor would only get involved if truck was damaged while awaiting transport or at the dealer. I would get the date of manufacture, plant it was finished at and do a date tracking on where it was between time it left factory and arrived at dealer. Then go back and see weather issues in areas the truck was. You NEED to make a big stink with either your secretary of state, and or Toyota corporate! Good luck. You bought a new truck, you deserve a NEW truck.

Still have a case open with corporate. I also contacted a lawyer over the holiday to explain everything. Gathering all of my paperwork, work orders, time with out truck etc to see if there is anything that can be done. All I want is my truck fixed. I'm not asking for money or anything special. Just what I am paying for. Which is a "new" vehicle.

We do have lemon laws, but they don't work really well here to be honest. I ran a report and I know that it was manufactured and shipped to the dealer August 7th, 2017 from Mexico. I bought it October 25th, 2017 and nothing but a headache since. I will see if I can find out where it was during that time. I'm supposed to hear from the dealer today and if not I'm driving down after work (either way) because my patients is pretty much gone.

When I was doing paint and body work years ago, vehicles would come to our shop that came off of the car hauler and had minimal damage and they would subcontract us to fix minor paint defects or dings that happened during transport, that may be what happened...just saying

I just read your response, and where do you live? If the vehicle was shipped to your dealer the first week of August, when did the dealer get it? The end of August, the Texas/Mexico and Houston area had Hurricane Harvey. I would bet your vehicle had hurricane damage while in transit, or if you live in that area, had damage at the dealership and they did a quick fix to sell it. Since you got a lawyer, I would accept nothing less than Toyota taking back their vehicle and giving you a NEW vehicle. Your problem does not pass the smell test (no pun intended) but if you prove the dealer knew there was damage or water damage without disclosing this to you, this would not be good for them. Make sure your lawyer is paid for by them too! Good luck.

Rail dust is from transport. Trucks/cars ship out by train.

I live out in California. Dealer received it August 16th. It was shipped out to them August 7th. I received my truck yesterday. They did paint the truck bed portion, as the haze was under the paint. That looks fine, but as I said they refused to deal with the damage on the hood, mirrors, and fenders. As I was waiting for my truck yesterday I went looking at their other trucks to see if I could spot the same damage on the hood. As fate would have it I found another Tacoma with the same type of damage. Forwarding this on to my lawyer (who I don't have to pay..if we win they make the companies pay). I was talking to my sales guy after and he told me there was another Tacoma that came in that had the same white haze under the paint (that they fixed on my truck) and they are working on getting that fixed too. So there is an issue here and I'm going to make sure that I do all that I can that this doesn't happen to someone else. Fingers crossed!

Glad you found another truck with same problem. Hope you have a Pit Bull for a lawyer and don't settle for anything less than them taking your truck back and getting a new truck like you bought! Keep us posted.
