Locking key fob in truck

    i just bought the 2017 access cab Tacoma because I wanted the longer bed for my surfboard. But when I go surfing I want to lock my key fob in my car while having the key in my pocket. But as soon as I try and lock the car with the key it does a loud long constant beep and won’t lock the truck. Does anyone know how or what I can do to just take my key since the key fob is not water proof?

    you can take they key out of the fob and then turn the FOB off by holding lock and pushing unlock twice. I take my key with me kayaking and lock the fob in the truck. Easy peasy.

    the FOB wakes up when you push any button after turning it off.

    I saw this the other day and was thinking it would be useful for someone. Maybe try this? I'm not sure how safe it is maybe check out the reviews but seems better than hiding a key in the sand or "above your passenger tire... Lol

    i have one of those works good for key fob but for those of you in cold country moving the small combination numbers when freezing will be a bitch. a little snow on it and they will freeze and not turn.

    That's a "steal me" box if I ever saw one! I got an extra key cut and made a necklace for it. I keep my fob, deactivated of course, literally inside the seat upholstery somewhere in the truck.

    This is a great solution. If you want to leave your entire key set in the truck, you can turn off the wireless fob as above and take the regular cut key that should have come with your truck, also.

    Leaving the fob in the truck sounds like a good way to get it stolen. All a thief would have to do is find the fob and reactivate it and drive off. I think I like the method of hiding or locking the fob outside the truck (out the activation range).
