Nah, super easy. I used the video for my ECT anytime mod, but I taped into the power outlet. The front camera is powered with an add-a-fuse.

Definitely! I'm down for a bit of easy.

Of course, I do need to get the any time rear camera switch going at some point.

So I want to use the RCA cables to watch media and music. What would I need to do this?

Some of TW members bought the media player at:
    1. goto Aliexpress.com
    2. Search for "jedx media player"
Keep in mind that may take weeks to received the player.

I had some daylight and the Taco was in the driveway, so I had a chance to snap some pics of the front camera:

    IMG_20180103_160830.jpg

    IMG_20180103_160841.jpg

It sticks out a more than I would like and I wish it would point downward a bit more as I do not have any bumper in the view. But, I really like it otherwise.

Which camera is that? I got a regular round bullet cam and I can't make it work w angles etc. Im thinking about ditching it and going to a mirror box for the AV in haha

It is the one from this post:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-smartphone-mirr.501617/page-10#post-16496915

I was a bit nervy before I ordered because the grille pic showed a different camera shape in what I assumed was a Camry, and I guessed the Taco logo would be larger. But, the width (22mm) and height (25mm) shown in the last pic on Amazon matched the opening.

Later today, I will post a pic of the view on the head unit. It is a great camera, esp in motion as there is no jittering in the image. But, no part of the bumper shows up. I need to get a ruler at bumper / license plate height and see how close the bottom is.

Also, there is no fish eye to the lens. All lines in the camera view appear straight. I would have liked a bit of fish eye, but again, I am satisfied enough as is.

The camera is noted to be IP67, but I did squeeze some RTV in rear wiring hole just in case and around the connector that had to be in the engine bay due to length. There is not enough of a pig tail to get it into the cab. Thankfully, the mating side was just long enough to get through the grommet.

I wish we could find out who makes the OEM rear camera. I wouldn't mind spending a little extra for a quality cam w fisheye

You could probably get one from a totaled Taco. The problem would be mounting it, then seeing the guidelines that are wider than the truck to start with and are off center given the mounting location of the camera in the tailgate. The guidelines show up as wider than typical non-compact parking spots. I am just thankful they are properly centered.

Meh. I'd just rip apart for the camera itself. Easy enough to ignore the guidelines.

This gives a good view of a car ahead:

The ruler shows a bit less than 4in to the license plate:

This is to the right side of the lower valance:

IMHO, down is good. Needs a bit more down or fisheye. The spec sheet says 170deg view angle. I think 190 or so would do it.

Agreed! Down is good, my comment was a bit confusing. It def needs to be aimed down more, but from the exterior it looks like it's aimed down quite a bit already. I played around w mounting it low. Like by the fog lights, facing right or left and a shallow angle. I needed an extra hand to hold it and play w ittho so I never followed through

In this configuration I can see the bottom front edges of the license plate holder on the top corners of the screen. It's perfect so far, and no Gonzo nose in my Toyota emblem. It also leaves me the option to bro-it-up by adding the faux pro grille in the future.

Nope, you caught me. It's all been a cleaver ruse to sell $12 cameras on Amazon. And I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling kids!

    I'll take one tomorrow though.
