    To reduce the issue of a possible wire fire I'd do a thorough inspection under hood and dash looking for left over wiring from them so you can remove it and run your own trusted wiring when you install something later. Previous owners aren't exactly known to be fastidious with their attention to detail and the rapid removal obviously leads to suspicions. They looked like a very common knock off of the Narva "Big Red" spotlights sold in Australia and New Zealand. They were a budget light to start with so you can imagine what the knocks were like.
