So, I was just informed that if you raise a 3rd gen more than 2”, it’ll mess up your needle bearing. Anyone have an issue with this or know if this is a fact?

Or just do it when your suspension is apart so you don't have to do it later. If your paying someone it may be cheaper to do all at once. I have a 3 inch lift and haven't replaced mine yet only because I do all my own work including alignments

Is it necessary to get the removal tool, axle seal, and install tool? I am going to get my truck lifted 3 inches Tuesday but if this is an issue, I may just have the shop install it for me while they are taking apart my suspension.

I would like to know this too. I may just buy everything and return the tool if the shop doesn’t end up using it.

Mine was bad driving away from the shop after a 3 inch lift, just do it all at once.

Do you all think I should get the removal and install tool? How about the seal?

Were the tools just made so you can DIY or Do you think a professional differential shop can install the ECGS bushing without the ECGS install/removal tool?

I think a pro shop would probably have the proper tools.

Buy removal tool and rent install tool from auto zone

This took me about 30 minutes after I removed the cv. It’s not too hard but it’s a little tricky setting up the removal tool properly

You forsure need the seal though

A pro shop shouldn’t need any additional tools

I did this last weekend. Definitely recommend getting the removal tool. I got mine off here. It worked great. You will also need a 35mm socket to remove the cv axle nut. I also bought a seal driver kit from harbor freight for like 30 bucks. I also got the front axle seal from the dealership for 23$. And ecgs recommends replacing your diff fluid with 85-140 for the bushing. The seal part number and oil are located at the bottom of this thread.

Any amount of lift can cause it to fail. It is a flawed design.
