Simple question here, or maybe not. I put the 4Runner TRD wheels on my truck with 255/75r17 tires. Just four of them. I'm looking for suggestions for my spare. Do I buy a 5th wheel for ~$180 and a 5th tire the same size? Or an equivalent size tire for the 16" wheel that's already on the spare? Or a cheaper 17" steel wheel and identical tire? I know a smaller tire is OK as a spare for on the street, but I really want the same size rubber in case I flat while off-road.

Along with that, is it better to sell the stock OR wheels as a set of 4 or 5?

Do the TRD Sports come with a 17" Spare, if so you can probably use that.

Best bet is to have the same size spare as what is on the truck. I’d get a steel wheel and same tire.

I guess I don't even know what the spares look like lol. I should probably go look. I did find a 17" steel rim for a 4Runner, 17x7 with a 14 BS. For half of what the the TRD wheel sells for.
