    Taco.jpg Hey guys,

New member here. I have done a ton of reading on this site, what a great resource! I just took the plunge and after many years of drooling, bought my first Toyota.

I know this is a common topic on TW but haven't found anything specific to the Gen 3 Tacoma's so here we go. Feel free to give me a nudge the right direction if there's already a thread going.

I live in the mountains of NC. My truck has 6k miles on it and NO rust. The roads are covered in salt and being in the mountains, this happens a dozen or so times a year.

I asked my dealership and they said they don't have anything to offer.

    What would you do?

    Thanks for your thoughts!

Edit: Just ordered some "Fluid Film". I'll keep you guys updated on how it works. Thanks!

If you are that worried about it search the forums for fluid film. You will get all the info you need.

I have a fluid film undercoating on my truck. Buffalo has salt on the roads well through March, sometimes into the middle of April. Stuff works incredibly well.

My friend has has his Raptor for 6 years, used fluid film with touch-ups every year, and it looks pristine underneath.

If you ordered the cans, buy the extension wand too. Makes getting into all the hard to reach areas and inside the frame easier.

Fluid film works great. Use it at least yearly and you should be fine. Don’t forget to spray it in the frame too!

Yep, I FF underneath sometime in November before winter and during winter i just take it to a spray car wash and spray underneath to rinse out all the salt.

I’m a mavcoat guy myself. Smells great, and doesn’t create a mess all over the place you gotta wash off yourself later on when you work on your truck.

I don’t know what it is, but it’s clear with a blue tint when sprayed on raw steel, dries to this strange wax feel, and you can weld through it. It’s magic.

I had my truck done with "Krown", Canadian based company. Similar to fluid film.

Anyone else have experience with FF or Krown?
