I never considered a rear sliding window, but sure why not. They could probably use the same cutout pattern on the laser table. Just need to find a radius slider with the same dimensions as the planned "fixed window" panes, and Viola!

Quick question. I may be stealthing in this thing a bit, sleeping on the floor and keeping the top down. With the floor panels out and the vent fan option up top, hypothetically that will be circulating air through the whole camper if the floor panels are removed, correct?

Open Source ... that's a great analogy. It's the combination of community input and modular design, with the basic light/fast philosophy, that I really like. I just wanna see out my back window, and I'd like to be able to remove and install the tent easily while keeping a panel-less rack on the truck.

Tri-pod side support...nice! Are the side panels planned to be gas strut assisted or some other form of support while open?

    Correct. Will totally work.

Yup, that will have a strut assisted lift. Didn't get installed before Wiley went south though, as you can tell

Hi all. Nabbed some rare WiFi down here at Gonzaga bay so dont expect much in follow up replies for a few days. But to address a few questions. The side panels will be supported by mechanical struts so that they can be partially cracked open for ventilation. As for the latches, well most likely be using compression latches with sealed lock barrels that keep water out (just Like on a car door). The compression latches do a much better job than typical turn style topper latches at keeping the panels right to the frame. Our plan is to have a separate latch on the inside so it can be locked when you’re inside. I’m also working on a “locking” strut so that if you had a dog in the back or wet gear you could fix the panels partially open. Not recommended for driving that way but still a semi secure way to increase ventilation in a way that would appear that everything. Was all closed up. Much better than a window for both security and avoiding the greenhouse effect.

So far everything has been working out great.

Do you have a measurement for the height of the rear opening (tailgate to top of camper)?

    If it's model specific I'm looking for a 1st gen #.

Just wondering how much room I'd have to make drawers on the bottom of the bed and still be able to climb in

First of all, I think this will already be an incredible product and design but I have one question for you guys. We camp as a family and I love the idea that I could possibly have the kids in the bed of the truck with me and my wife above in the tent. If one of us above has to use the restroom In the middle of the night is there any option for a ladder that can attach someway to the tent portion so me or the mrs doesn't have to step on or wake up the kids below?

It's been mentioned that they will have ladders available for the standalone style roof top tent version. Even if not, I don't think it would be hard to rig up a collapsible RTT ladder since the tent has the t-slot track running along the back.

Probably not. You could rig something but honestly no thief is going to open the tent to get in. They’re just going to use a crowbar to pry open a hatch like they’d do on any topper. Or just break a window. Takes way too much time to go in through the tent.

yup. Just got them today... :D

Probably not tinted dark if thats what you are looking for, but that will be really easy to have it done locally at a tint shop after you receive it.
