So I stopped at the dealer this morning to pick up a few oil filters.

While there - knowing that I need to replace bearings on the driver's side rear wheel - for shits and giggles, I asked them for a quote. I was maybe planning on doing this myself but thought I'd ask. They want $912.15 (half labor, half parts) to do it. I almost fell over when service manager told me!

Called my local trusted tire shop. They'll do it for $340. I may let them do it since it's a company vehicle and doesn't cost me anything...and it's cold as hell here and I don't feel like digging into it.

I got a quote for $750 from mine last year. Bought a new bearing for $30-40 and pressed it in. Good to go.

If you dont wanna press stuff just buy the hub assembly. You can get a dorman hub assembly for 100$ on rockautos website and the labor is easy as long as you dont wheel it. The left hub dissassembling on my truck took 2.5 hours. Most of it was hammering and swearing. Simple socket set, a rubber mallet and a mini sledge, a simple wrench set, some lube, and man power is all ya need.

hardest part was getting the axle unstuck, few hits with BFH on the big nut and the rest was easy

Isn’t the rear bearing a lot harder than the front wheel bearing to replace?

Seems to be a bit early on a 2015 to need a bearing.

I think I paid 850 for a rear bearing and new drum brakes on both sides. That bearing wasn’t cheap and now I try to do a lot myself. Purchase parts thru camelback Toyota a vendor on here and save money.

I think the bearing and housing was 170 and 30 for the shop to press of old and on new,its easy to pull the axle and drop it of at the axle shop.

You would think both sides but no, just for the left side.

Company vehicle and the company is paying for it!

Screw that let the dealer do it right and don't worry about it.

I don't even see where this is a question.

I wasn’t asking a question, just pointing out a thieving dealer. Can’t stand getting screwed no matter who is is paying. Besides, I like the owners of my company.

I’ll take my chances with my local guy.
