I know its the age old debate 265 or 285 on tacos, but I was curious to know if anyone with Bilstein 5100s set to 2.5 up front had to do the cab mount chop with 285s? I know the rears will clear no problem but id rather stay away from the cab mount chop if possible? Im going to get a set of Falken Wildpeak at3s however, Im undecided between 265/75/R16 or 285/75/R16. Any thoughts from anyone with the same suspension mods up front?

    Short answer, yes.

You MAY clear without the CMC if you stay on flat pavement. Do ANY flexing suspension and it's pretty much a given you'll rub when turning otherwise. Also, it matters what wheels you have. I run stock TRD OR wheels with a 1" Bora spacer behind them. My 285/75r16 Cooper STT PRO's would have rubbed but I had a buddy do my CMC before hand...Clears by leaps and bounds now. I have 5100's set at 0", but 887 OME coils to give me 2-1/2" of lift. I've had tires stuffed to the bump stops (while off roading) and no rubbing. CMC seems daunting until you do it. Relatively simple. You will also need to flatten the pinch weld in the back of the wheel well or it will rub slightly. I had 265's prior. I could not make them rub. My Coopers are full 33" when new. Some 285's are a tic less than 33" giving a slight bit of extra clearance.

I will be running method race wheels with 0 offset, however I have 2" spacers I would like to put on. From the sounds of it there's really no way to avoid the rubbing. Maybe I'll just have to pull the trigger on the 285s and whip out the angle grinder haha. Thanks for the input.

Of course mine is a different set up (OME 885s doing the lifting) but I have 285/75/16 and I rubbed with 1.25" spacers... it wasn't until I chopped that I truly did not rub
