    Hi all,

Bought my first Taco. Want to know if anyone has experience with the Toyo Cat-Backs and if their worth the money. If not, would you all recommend anything else.

    Thanks!

Look up youtube vids and see if you're willing to pay for the sound. Any horsepower gain/difference/loss is negligible.

I regret getting a Magnaflow catback instead of the TRD.

Obviously neither of them actually make any more power, but the Magnaflow is too damn loud. The TRD has a more subdued tone, but still a little more aggressive than stock.

Got to stick a resonator on that bitch!!! Have a 3" in/out Magnaflow 18" w/ URD y-pipe. Put a Vibrant Ultra Quite Resonator in, right after the v-band (y-pipe flange), before the muffler... helps a lot. Only gets a little loud around 3k - 3.5k RPM, but usually it's shifting around then.

Originally had put on a bottle style resonator, but was still to loud. Ultra Quite helped quite it down really good. Only thing is, the resonator is almost like a mini muffler in terms of size, if I would do it over again, I would really like to see what the 24" Magnaflow sounds like.

Here's a pic of my setup when I had it installed originally, with the bottle style resonator... only last a couple days, until I replaced it.

    Working on it.
I think the TRD exhaust sounds pretty good. It is not over bearing but adds a little rumble under load that adds to the driving experience. Plus it has a TRD exhaust tip that has to be worth like 5hp!:burnrubber:

I'm having my cat back installed today. Don't need it to be real loud. Now y'all got me a bit worried about the sound.

Just add a resonator to cut sound/drone, if it's to loud for your liking.

If you want an exhaust that actually does something then go with the URD spec U. Its not particularly loud, actually really quiet for a de-catted race exhaust but it does make some more power. Its a tuned pipe, meaning the resonant frequencies of the engine were analyzed and then the shape, diameter, material, and thickness of the exhaust were all taken into account to get an exhaust that does not vibrate, does not make raspy noises or sound like crap, it just makes a nice clean engine noise and flows like you wouldnt believe. I have barely been able to keep my truck in the drive way since :burnrubber:
Yes, its $1000 dollars, because its a full exhaust system. Meaning it comes with the Y pipe AND the catback all as one unit, and everything fits together nicely. Super easy to install once you get the old exhaust out.

I did a muffler only system last month using a Black widow venom 250 muffler. http://www.blackwidowexhaust.com/mu...nter-SKU-BW001-C/p/35648298/category=15730041 They are worth looking into.

I previously had a flowmaster series 50 muffler 1in/2out running split exhaust that came out of the back of the truck. I loved that system and the sound but it rusted and I needed to make another exhaust. I got my exhaust built earlier this month using a Black widow 2.5" Venom 250 muffler and i already have a aFe Stage-2 Si Pro 5R Cold Air Intake System Dry filter installed. With the old exhaust I noticed that after 3k rpm you would loose the sound of the muffler because the intake sound would take over. After having the new exhaust for about a month now the biggest thing that I noticed is a pretty consistant power band and also engine sound. There is no drop of one sound for another. As the RPMs get higher the whole engine system sounds strong and happy.

Since my old system had rusted I also needed to get stainless steel run for the exhaust system but it follows the factory run.

I really like the sound of the Venom 250 on my truck. The initial firing up sound is aggressive and loud enough but doesn't scare small children. It was 11F this morning while starting the truck in the video. With that said, your neighbors will definitely know when you have started your truck because the exhaust note travels inside the house easily. Just under normal idle while sitting at a light or in a drive through you wont notice it to much, but once you get on the throttle you and everyone around you will hear it. Getting onto the highway or passing anyone puts a smile on my face each and every time.

The biggest thing that I noticed with this muffler compared to the last system that was on my truck is how much "quieter" the Black widow muffler sounds inside the cab compared to outside the truck, It doesn't sound annoying or overly loud. It has some hum at 1500 rpm, so going 35 down the road you might have a little hum but not annoying drone. At 2k RPM while doing 70mph the exhaust is comfortably quiet and easy to drive, but once you bring the motor up to 3200 RPM she stops sounding like a Tacoma and makes me smile. The company Black widow is worth looking into to for sure
