How to remove 1st gen fender flares?

    So I just got a 1st gen taco recently and im trying to remove the plastic fender flares but it looks like there are some plastic barbs holding it in. is there any way to remove it without breaking those barbs? (these flares aren't getting thrown out, im going to be putting them back on)

    That's fawking unbelievable but being a glutton for punishment this newb to 1st Gen Tacos will give it a try . . .

    Has anyone done this seemingly simple task on a 1st Gen?

    I need to remove mine to put new rubber flare-to-body seals in. All I see are bolt/screw heads. Is there more to it like the "plastic barbs" Justin mentioned above?

    I'd prefer to be forewarned and get it done right the first time.

    Views are welcome, good information would be greatly appreciated!!

    Thank you! They just look "screw on" to me, clips would be redundant given the head spacing of the fasteners, though not surprising. Much appreciated!!

    Yeah I just ended up breaking them off. Haven't put them back on yet. Don't know if I will. May be getting fiber glass fenders sometime in the future. Plus the truck being black the holes don't stand out too much so that's that lol

    Hahaha yeah. But its okay I planned on either painting them and putting them back on or leaving them off if it doesn't look shabby. Obv I chose the latter haha and yeah man. Ill be here as long as I have my Taco or any Toyota for that matter! Very helpful and a good way to share knowledge

    This is my "go most anywhere, anytime" forward expedition, multi-purpose, Sunday go to meeting, sleep in the back limo! With a mere 158k miles on the clock I want to keep it nice and somewhat original in appearance while more functional than stock!

    I don't beat on this rig, that's what my SWB Jeeps are for, I love 'em.
