I like his war movies best (Longest Day, Green Beret's, etc.).

I had to look at his filmography online, he started his career in pictures way back in 1926!

My dad told me the same thing growing up on motorcycles. Then having some old timers tell me not to run equipment anymore than 85% to 90% of the available rpm. So both of those have stuck with me along the way. I wasn't so much worried about my technics as I was about any fatal flaws. But being as how I really hadn't heard anything here ( just from guys who run the piss out of their gear), I wasn't real worried about it.

If your lazy and do not want to read : PSA PART: CARRY YOUR DAMN CELL PHONE OR SINCE MANY OF US LIVE OUT IN THE WILLY WAGS WITH UNRELIABLE CELL SIGNAL A WHISTLE WILL WORK!

Folks a lot of us do things by ourselves at home hey we’re adults after all right? Well since we are adults we should be able to admit to ourselves that we have some sort of medical issues to varying degree. Some of those issues might cause things to happen or happen / be exacerbated after other things have happened.

So today I decided to go out and finish play…plowing yeah that is it . I fired the tractor up after I took it’s blankey off..:} just kidding well anyhow. While it is warming up I walk out the drive way to the front walk area to survey where to push, drag and where to scoop / dump etc.

I look over and see something laying in the snow half way down my neighbors drive way. Was not sure as I did not have my glasses on what it was looked like a bag or something , then It had arms and was sort of rolling a little and moving the arms on the side away from me . For a moment I was like huh Rich And Theta ( 84/83 yr old couple) must be having a water issue someone is over there trying to turn off the main….. I watch for a moment longer and it hits me umm their main is right by the corner of the house not in front yard beside the driveway. I start walking across the snow toward the person. They roll over it is Rich I try to haul ass but in ankle to knee deep drifts it isn’t a good thing but I yell at him stay still I will be right there.

I get there and he is out of breath lips slightly cyanotic in his face and lip areas. He reaches slightly with one arm I take it and bend and grab under his other arm and haul him to his feet. Thankfully he is not a big guy, I get him standing on his own and look down he had a BROOM with him as a walking stick and to fish the newspaper out of the front yard according to him when I asked later. Anyhow get him back to his door knocking really loudly yes his wife is hard of hearing I am told she was a commercial seamstress back in the day. She comes an opens it I get her to give me a hand broom and I get as much snow off him as I can and tell her he needs a hot shower and a change of clothes after he sits for a few min. She leads him in and sets him down in a chair comes back to the door. I tell her watch him his lips and face are off color you may want to call an ambulance if he says one word about chest pain, slurring words, falling asleep rapidly etc. I did ask how long ago he stepped out for the paper she said it had only been a few minutes… Well he was only wearing thin sweat pants , boots but no socks t shirt and thin shirt and light jacket and a hat. The temp was 11 with a 5 mph wind … I know he has a heart condition to go along with glaucoma, one hip and knee replacement and meds out the ying yang.

His wife called me an hour later said he was doing ok had a shower and some tea and his color was good. She mentioned he was supposed to try to find someone to come plow this year for them and had not and did I know anyone that could. Since, she had to be out Monday for some minor surgery herself. I said no but I would try to very carefully clear a path in their drive way and their mail box , lp tank. We had already talked when I got the tractor and told Rich I am not being a dick but it is new and I have to learn it before I touch a paved driveway he understood. ( He is very very picky about his drive way and yard was the head greens keeper for some big high end golf course in PA before he retired).

Unbeknown to him one of his nephews had called in a favor and had a friend come plow the drive way for them while I was finishing my stuff. So It worked out I did the mail box and his LP tank and then shoveled his front walk and stairs and called it good.

If you read this far good on you for not being lazy and get the message we aren’t getting any younger and most certainly won’t get older if we are foolish or prideful !!
