Is it possible to add navigation to a stock Entune Audio Plus?

No. You will need a 2014-2015 Tacoma Entune radio with navigation. Since you have the Audio Plus, you should already have the 125 model antenna.

I originally swapped my Entune for a 2014 Entune Audio Plus, because I wanted HD radio. Once I found out the antenna included with that radio was the one I needed for navigation, I bought a 2015 Entune with navigation. It is easy to swap factory radios in this truck.

Do not get a JBL radio; the connections are not compatible. Watch this forum and eBay for a good used deal. I paid under $800 for mine.

Does anyone sell an aftermarket touchscreen head unit that's wired up for a direct install for the Tacoma?

I currently have the Entune Audio Plus in my 2015 DCSB. Upgrading to a NAV version is just "Remove and Replace"?

Also, is the NAV version the same as the Entune Audio Premium?

Yes, it is just remove and replace. I used a stainless steel drywall putty knife to pop out the HVAC controls.

I just have the 2014 Toyota Tacoma catalog, but as far as I can tell, the only difference between the Audio Plus and the Audio Premium is that the Audio Premium includes navigation, although the 2014 Audio Plus model I have does not have the Sirius XM module. Make sure you have the "spider" connector that goes between the Sirius XM module and the radio.

    Cool!

Now, a more complicated question. When I first got my Taco last March, and not knowing any better at the time, I tried to go into the Entune website and register to get all the apps. But only having an Entune Audio Plus, the site would not recognize my truck's VIN. If I was to upgrade to a Premium, how could I get the website to know I now had a Premium and start recognizing my VIN?

For some reason, it never occurred to Entune that people would upgrade their radios. What you need to do is to go to one of those salvage websites that list VINs. Save time by looking at expensive vehicles that are likely to have navigation, for instance a 2014 or 2015 Avalon. Start plugging in VINs until you have success.

The VIN of the vehicle the radio came out of would work, but I would not ask the seller for their VIN. I doubt that would go over well.

Oh, so if I was to use a "bootleg" VIN, they would never really know. And what about someone with a legit VIN but hasn't registered. If I was to use their VIN and they decided to register at a later time, would they run into a problem since the VIN was already registered?

One last question: How do you update the map information on the Premium? The old NAV systems had a box under the driver's seat where you would add a new DVD.

You are allowed at least 2 registrations per vehicle. I would use the VIN off of a salvage vehicle, because it will probably be sold for parts.

The 2014 (at least) and up navigation radios use an SD chip that fits in a slot in the bottom right of the radio. There is a cover over the SD chip. You can buy new chips on eBay. Change the chip with the ignition off, then turn the key to ACC and listen to the radio for 10 minutes or so while it updates itself. The engine does not need to be on, contrary to instructions. Just make sure it is done updating before you turn the key off.

Thanks. Now I just have to find one in decent shape at a decent price.

    Will 3-gen head units work, or only 2-gen? (mine's a 2015)

I'm not sure on that. There is an eBay listing that states it fits 2014-2017 Tacomas.
