I found this truck for sale by a mechanic shop. They did the head gaskets a couple months ago and had the heads resurfaced. They insist the engine was done right. I saw some coolant inside the oil cap but they insisted it was from before the heads were done. The transmission feels good, it's a little beat being 20 years old but good condition. Clean title. 290kmiles.

No serious rust I could see. Cv axles looked good. Drove great around the block.

    Is it worth 4K?

You don’t get much for 4K anymore.

Sorry for the vague answer. 4K is not alot of money for a good running T4R. If it doesn’t have a lot of rust and looks like it wasn’t beat on, buy it. Make sure the frame is sound, interior stuff can be fixed-replaced. Does everything work, ac. Power windows, gauges, pwr seats. People get a lot of miles out of Toyota’s if taken care of. I hope this helps.

So I was wrong on the mileage somehow. It's 290k not 220k.

Pulled carfax clean, lots of repairs last year like timing, wheel bearings, axles, brakes. Tires have good tread but are cracked and will need to be replaced probably right away.

It's high miles. I mostly want to use this vehicle for camping off road excursions and would keep a 2nd car for daily driving. I want something relatively reliable that I'm not going to have to sink a ton more money into so I'm hesitant with almost 300k miles on it. 4K isn't too bad though

All the power windows worked but I'll check the a/c tomorrow when I go back to buy. It also had a locking differential button but I wasn't sure how to check it's functionality. There wasn't dirt nearby to check the 4x4 turning but it worked straight.

It seems the mechanic just wants whats owed but if they aren't firm just try to negotiate. Since you drove the suv just look at the dipstick, sometimes condensation could build up around the oil cap and whatever oil was left could've mixed with it.
