    Plastic+cold=disaster maybe.
    With the brutal cold some have, plastic becomes brittle and soon becomes very hot from the oil. Those extreme temps shocks the plastic and MAY crack.

    I got one at Advance Auto or Autozone or OReillys, sorry I can’t remember which one. It isnt branded as Toyota but is aluminum and identical.

    I had to do that the first time I changed the oil on my wife’s RAV4 (same filter housing), the dealership cross threaded and must have used an impact to get the plastic one on, it ended up cracking as it came off. I needed a new one that same Sunday, luckily they were in stock at the parts stores.

    If you need one in a hurry and don’t mind not being Toyota brand, check with the parts stores.

    Just installed one on my Tacoma on Friday. It was an exact replica just in Aluminum. Took both apart ( because I have issues ...) and the center piece, the spring, bottom spring seat and under side retainer clip are all identical. Your new OEM filter will have the 2 new O-rings for the Oil Filter Cap drain and housing.

    Ebay also has them for 15 and change with Free-Ship

    Amazing how costs differ. Cheapest you can get it on Amazon in Canada is $67 ($51 USD) and the dealer price was $95 ($73 USD). Absurd.
