They are long, nearly 9 feet.

A funny (kinda) story about the one in my picture. A few years ago I was in Wichita with my GTO for the Wichita GTO club's annual car show and races. The hotel we stayed at was also hosting a Corvair club convention and the parking lot was full of Pontiacs and Corvairs.

At one point I was talking to an older gentleman who had one of the Rampside pickups and he was telling me about the dozen or so he had owned and restored. He told me he had finally sold all of them except the one he was showing that day. I started to tell him about the one I knew of sitting out in a field and immediately, before I finished my first sentence, the mans wife stepped in between us, looked me right in the eye, and said "No! You must be mistaken, it's surely a Volkswagen or a Ford, can't possibly be a Corvair.''

When I started to say something else she stepped a little closer and said " I told you you're wrong, no way that's a Corvair!" She had obviously had enough of the Corvair restorations. She gave me the evil eye until she was sure I got the message and I wasn't going to say any more.

My wife had a Corvair van that her parents had bought for her, it ended up in the junkyard after her younger brother who was 15 without a drivers license took it out for an unauthorized joy ride and he miss-judged a Y intersection and rolled it. Same unpredictable handling characteristics as the car I'd guess. Or just first driving experience went bad.

Other thing to note is the Van and Pickup have a large cover over the remounted engine which was not very practical.

I have a single picture of her in the back of the van somewhere, I'll have to dig it out and post.

And, since I'm middle aged and should soon be in a Buick soon anyway . . . I ran across this one today.

Needs new exhaust and tires but I actually have a set of 15" BFG TAs just the right size I bought for my 442 before I decided to do the protouring suspension/brake/wheel/tire swap on it.

My first car I bought was going to be a Buick gs, much like that one, but in bad shape. Went to see the guy and ended up with the first actual car I bought.

    One of these.

...^^^... There is a guy who bought one of these new and drives it around this area and I saw him in the car last year.

He got some kind of an award from the manufacturer for his ultra high mileage.

Is it the 3 million mile volvo? It was a great car, but the early fuel injection was a pain and it needed rust work, so I cleaned it up and sold it on at a nice profit. Had it under a year, bought a real classic with the money. A 95 Honda Civic coupe in black, really made a mistake there...,93CCE66F-603D-41F2-9133-7A7207BFEF21.jpg

Ha, I ran across this completely by acccident but a $140K V12 DB9 w/16K miles for $52K? Tried to tell the wife this could be our going for ice cream car. 0-60 in 3.2 we could get home before it melts

Unfortunately, she didn’t see the utility in it and the insurance? $1700/yr for a nearly 60 year old, no tickets or accidents. Guess we’re gonna have to pass . . . :(

    Always forgiveness instead of permission......

Another way is to say "Honey look what I got for you today!" (Works for gun purchases:thumbsup:)

....^^^... I have noticed a lot of super expensive cars selling for peanuts on car sites and in auctions.

My guess is maintenance and labor costs to fix them is out of sight expensive.

Can you imagine buying a Rolls Royce for $45K and later spending $35K for a transmission or $6k for a wheel... YIKES ...

Can you imagine what the parts and labor for that DB9 would cost ?? ... :D

Oh, I wasn't actually seriously wanting to buy an Aston Martin. I put in my price low and high for what I was searching for and was shocked that an Aston Martin DB9 showed up. The rest was all just silliness . . .
I even did the "my name is Bond, James Bond" for her. She wasn't impressed with that either . . .

You must live on Long Island, that dude has been featured in ads and articles about Volvos for years.
I always liked those P1800 Fastbacks...homely but unique.

I've read a few articles, the guy has made driving this car his full time job to keep racking up the miles.

He hit 2 million in 2002, and 3 million in 2013, 250 miles a day for 11 years. That's gotta be one comfortable drivers seat.

He must be finally slowing down he only put 200,000 over the last 4 years.
