I have an Afe Cold air intake with a dry filter, with the old exhaust I noticed that after 3k rpm you would loose the sound of the muffler because the intake sound would take over. After having the new exhaust with a black widow muffler for about a month now, the biggest thing that I noticed is a pretty consistant power band and also engine sound. There is no drop of one sound for another. As the RPMs get higher the whole engine system sounds strong and singing a happy note.

This is true. Unfortunately the bank account doesn't have that much extra horsepower to use right now. Lol.

Blast from the past here on reviving this - but just wanted to say thanks for running all this down. I'm looking into the same system you put on and your videos and "lessons learned" are very helpful. Thanks!

Great thread! Getting SC installed in a couple weeks and researching this very topic...
Challenge is I have full RCI skids and would like to go flat with the transfer case skid. Wonder if there is a Y pipe available that tucks the crossover up... I love the look of your aFe system but it appears that the crossover is still low hanging fruit.... let me know if this isn't the case....
It's a tough sell to spend that much money to just have it cut up and modified...
Attached is a pic of the modification I'm referring to...screen shot from R4T video...
Any info or suggestions would be great!

Boost, armor, lights, big tires, no savings.
For all those considering these headers-
I would not use the aFe headers with cats in SC application. You will blow the cats out as I and many other have done. On a plus, they will send a full replacement kit. But the effort and potential engine damage from sucking in pieces of metal are not worth the effort. Just go URD EL headers.

I see you’re in Glenwood Canyon….. just got my motor put back in my truck with the supercharger addition, I was looking into these AFE header/cats….. this video is definitely helping me make up my mind. Thanks for posting.

I know this is old, but incase anyone is wondering, the Doug thorley y pipe is skid compatible.
