Ahh, Great Danes. I vow to have another one. I literally found mine on the side of the road, emaciated and with a serious foot injury. She was very old, but still very full of life. They have two modes - total couch potato, and total spaz. Unfortunately, she and my female Great Pyrenees developed a feud that was going to result in someone getting dead, so I had to turn her over to a Dane rescue. :(

I have several Great Dane videos of Danes doing funny or crazy things saved in my favorites on my Youtube channel.

Thanx. Yeah, I miss her. My favorite story is of one morning after working a 16 hour shift. Since I only get about three hours of sleep between a double, and having to report back to work for the next shift, I only had her in the house with me on this particular morning. Just as I was getting up out of bed, someone knocked on the door. Gracie immediately jumped up, and started quietly chuffing (I don't like barking in the house) as she was trotting to the door. I went to the door, latched onto her collar and opened it up. The person on the other side was one of those Jehovahs Witnesses. Gracie stuck her head out the door to see who this was. This guy looked down at her, and then back up at me, giving me enough time to see what he was peddling. I simply told him I'm not interested. The guy quickly said OK, and RAN off of my property. :D

I love having BIG dogs, and I do wish that Gracie and Snow would have gotten along with each other.

    ^^^Thats badass!

Yeah my favorite Dane story is, my GF was walking my Dane, his name is Diesel, through the park by my apartment, and some mexican guy walked passed them, when my Gf turned around the mexican guy was following her VERY closely, so as soon as she turned around, Diesel turned around and went for the mexican! The mexican turned and ran across the street into traffic!
So needless to say, I love big dogs! :D

Here's him howling. He normally doesnt, but we were playing with him trying to get him to.
Here's Diesel with his "cousins", basically my cousin's dogs. They love him.
Here's Diesel on his old mattress. I threw it out already.

i love the last picture. i always think its funny to watch a dane "curl up". their legs are so long they just kinda fold up. my buddies dane has no idea its a big dog. she thinks shes a lap dog and you can be sittin on the sofa and she will just crawl up and literally try to fit her entire body in your lap. its hilarious

My female Pyr is actually quite passive. Her one thing is that she hates to be jumped on, and Gracie would constantly do this to get her to play. Despite numerous attempts to get her to not do this, one night it escalated into a full blown dogfight, and I had to separate them. From that point on, the two would spar at each other through the fencing. Locomo, my lab mix on the other hand, will not try this kind of behavior, and everyone gets along fine.

does yours lean up against you when you are petting it? i'm about 230 lbs so it doesn't affect me that much but my gf is about 120, and when she starts petting the dog it will lean up against her and if my gf isn't ready for it it will actually push her into whatever is behind her

that is such a pretty dog. i love the truck pic

Thanks man! By AKC standards, he has perfect proportions! :D

Oh yeah, he loves to lean! But it's not too bad, and if your ready for it, then it wont push you back. My GF weighs maybe 130 and she doesn't have a problem with him now.

yeah, if you are ready for it its not too bad but if you are just standing there petting her talking to people and she leans up against you and you aren't ready for it, it can be pretty forceful
