Not too bad, I started with a kit from warmcarnow.com which had a T-Harness so I didn't have to splice the large ignition wires. Although the Evo One is MT compatible Fortin left out the fact you need a clutch bypass in the instructions. They tell you about the ready mode options but now how to wire the clutch. Row your own is the only way to go. I enjoy driving my truck not being a passenger in the drivers seat :)

Been driving my DCSB 3rd Gen since this last Oct. Manual all the way. Love this truck.

Funny story. Traveled to Dublin Ireland a few years back. Went to rent a car to drive around and be a tourist. When asked to see my ID, I showed my password and asked if they needed to see a Drivers license. I don't recall if they needed my license, it was the conversation that started after seeing I was an American. He stated, "Oh you are from the States, you'll be wanting an automatic then?" I politely corrected my preference by stating I might be an American, but I'm not a fat lazy American, and that a manual transmission would be preferred.
To my delight, most vehicles they had for rental were manual. They kept a few for elderly travelers or people from the States.

Ford, Chevy and Dodge didn't offer a midsize pickup with a manual transmission. Jeep hasn't brought back their pickup yet. That left Nissan or Toyota. It was a relatively easy choice for me.

    My MPG is getting better.
Is that because my truck is almost broken in?

My MPG was a consistent 20 from day 1, nothing to really break in. Current mileage has dropped a little on winter blend fuel though.

Off topic. Is it bad to drive your truck through huge water puddles. It's raining here and I thought it would be fun to drive through some puddles at around 30mph. Just want to know if I should be more careful.

Biggest warning is to make sure you know (really know) how deep that puddle is. 30mph is also fast enough to hydroplane. Outside of that I don't know of any technical problems.

I've had several toyota manuals. Three of them way over 200k miles. I've never replaced a clutch. The only transmission/shifting related issue was a clutch slave cylinder on a '88 corolla @ the 225k mark.

Your air intake is in the top forward corner of the right front fender. It passes out of the engine bay on the right side of the air box bottom. So, it is generally well protected from ingestion when splashing through puddles. You just don't want to go fording anything that would be higher than about your rocker panels, or so.

Also note that a bigger concern at that depth would be the vent breather on the rear diff. If you are seeing puddles that height (about 15in), then you should think about extending that breather. There are some threads about it here. The front diff already has an extension to the top of the rad.

Finally, don't go fording anything that you don't know the depth of, esp running water.

Go to your local pub ask them if you can get an old tapper. Rethread it and install it.
