All sorts of companies on here sell mounts that attach to your hood bracket and extremely secure. I purchased one that goes on my bed rail.

I used a style like this on my jeep without problems, that was using a Larson NMO2/70SH which was only 19" though - small and lightweight, and not affected much by wind.

On the Taco, I like using the ditch light brackets as antenna mounts, very solid.

...after thought... the ditch light brackets do limit you to using a UHF mount antenna though. Not really enough surface area to enlarge the hole to NMO size.

Third truck I have had this antenna mounted to with no issues. 16000km on it now and it is as solid as it was the day I installed it. All oilfield trucks around here have antennas mounted this way.
