So I've started shopping for my next vehicle, and finally settled on the Tacoma.

Ideally what we want is the TRD off road with the premium package (simply for the climate control), but a couple of the dealerships that I've spoken to have told me that it's not possible for that combination. They've said that in order to get the tacoma with the premium package I also need to purchase the technology package. The sales person even went as far to say that they don't make them like that at the factory.

Just seemed like a sales thing, trying to get me to purchase a $2,300 option that I dont want or need, haha.

I was curious if anyone had purchased one in this configuration (TRD Off road + Premium, w/o technology package), or knew if it is possible?

    THANKS!!

the only way to get the climate control is with the technology package. You cant get the premium with just climate control upgrade.

In 2016 and 2017 it was together. Now for 2018 you should be able to get one without the other. You can go to Toyota.com and try to build one to verify. I will double check this myself too. Be advised, the build site is based on your zipcode, so that could be one of those things where your area forces both packages, much like dealers in Louisiana always add extra stuff and make you pay for it.

So what OP needs is the OR with the Tech package right? You should be able to get that.

So I built it through toyota and through the configurator tool you can most definitely build the following:
TRD off road + TRD off road premium package

but the guy at the dealership was saying you can only get: TRD off road + TRD off road premium package + Technology package

So if they were a combined option in 2016/2017 it would definitely make sense that maybe the salesperson isn't super familiar with the 2018's yet. We're in south Florida so I don't imagine they sell a huge amount of 4wd trucks :p

I am glad they were combined on my 17, it was worth getting.

Go to the Toyota.com website, which Toyota controls (not the dealers) and see if you can get your exact configuration. Dealers will tell you anything, including lies, to sell you their current inventory.

Just to clarify, it is the premium for climate control.

Search cars.com and find one and show it to your salesman. Once you do that you have two options. Allow him to get you the truck you want, or go buy it somewhere else.

If I'm reading it right, if you order the Premium Package, you will get the moonroof along with dual zone heated, leather seats. Since it's separate from the technology package, you won't get sonar, BSM and rear cross traffic alert.
