    Pull up the ebrake
The ring under the knob turn counter clockwise and pull down. Unscrew the knob.
    Open center console
Now pull up using the ebrake opening
Now once all up u will need to remove the ebrake boot. U will see the boot holding pull the boot from bottom towards u to remove boot.
    Should be good.

On the 2nd gen, the short shifter was amazing. Made an enjoyable drive even better. The force increase was not something noticeable either-- reverse being a little bit harder actually helped to avoid accidentally going into reverse.

many 3rd owners have said R can be difficult with the URD, but some report it's fine... could be preference differences, could be temp differences affecting the detent ball, who knows.

i like the stock shifting, but i did add a heavy knob and it made a huge improvement in feel and smoothness. i like it so much I'm getting an even heavier knob.

i will probably try the URD soon just because i like trying things and i like super solid mechanical feel where i can get it. if it's too short or difficult i can change back, no big deal.

Changing to a Hurst T-Handle shift knob made a world of difference. It's 2 inches shorter and heavy. Huge improvement in the throw, very happy medium between the complaints listed above, plus it looks awesome. Found a rubber bushing in the HELP! aisle at auto parts store and slid it on the stick, it makes the boot look nice and fills the gap. I've had the same T Handle on several vehicles, it feels very comfortable to me. The recent sub-zero temps in Western PA, however, have their downfalls. That's one cold chunk of aluminum! It takes 15-20 minutes to warm up, roughly the same as the stiff clutch pedal. I put a sock over it when the temps drop below 20F.
