Seeking skilled Tacoma mechanic in Boston area who can fix 4WD

Hey guys, I am staring down the barrel of an expensive repair job it looks like to get the 4WD on my 2006 Tacoma back in action. There are a number of threads on potential fixes that avoid spending 2k at a dealer but they require more skill and tools than I possess at the moment. I am hoping to find a reputable mechanic who has a lot of experience working on Tacomas who would be able to get the 4WD electric actuator working again. If you have any recommendations I would be greatly appreciative. I tried searching for threads on recommended area mechanics but came up empty-handed.

If it's just the actuator - it shouldn't cost close to $2K.

I just went through a similar ordeal in VT. Turned out to be my front actuator. Part and labor cost me $400 (local place, mom dealer, $58/hr labor). But I made sure to be under there when they checked if the tcase was engaging and I let them know that I knew what was going and I wasn't down for a wild goose chase.

 

Good to know @x2468 . Did you source the actuator yourself or the let the shop order it?
