    I can't even believe they offer a 5.7 in the 2500s.

That's good advice on the 6.4. If I'm going all-in on a 2500 though I would probably go with something that can replace my dad's Duramax, which has seen better days.

I consider a PW to be about the same as a 1500 HD. Heavier than a standard 1500, but not nearly the same as a true 2500, which is kind of why I figured it could do a single vehicle well, but not what we do with the Duramax. At $34k, it'd be nice to be able to replace this...

Well its a land Cruiser with a diesel so I've got that going for me.
Got it at Carmax of all places too.

Just gotta look around. Get a tradesman if you don't need the bells and whistles. Mine not being a limited made saved me be money and I have been slowly adding the over options I wanted. Swapped the nicer gauges in for a few hundred, the projector lights for a few hundred, Carli suspension that I actually think rides way better than the PW and I still am less than 40K including upgrading the clutch to dual disk and tuning. Just need to get some 35s ordered up soon and she's sitting good.

Lots if folks like the 6.4 gasser in the 2500 as an alternative to diesels. And I would consider the PW to be the same as any run of the mill 1500. All the bones can support the weight but the suspension just isn't cutting anything above 7k without sagging bad and making you need weight distribution hitches to just feel safe.

Also stay away from the 2014 and early 2015 6.4s... they had issues and many were replaced under warranty and they updated the valves. The 2016 and up are killer and as long as it's a late model 15 you are safe.

Have you put a real heavy load on it?

We actually got the Duramax weighed with this setup and it's basically at its limit for towing and GCVWR. I always thought Dodge had a better reputation for handling big trailers easily.

Sadly, we actually had to unload the Jeeps halfway through our trip because the tensioner pulley went out on the truck, shredding the belt. We are getting pretty tired of dealing with 12 year old truck problems.

Pulled 9k with it and she sagged bad. I know Ckeenes father in law had one but sold it due to poor towing with a boat.

They really sacrifice towing and payload for that flex and ride height. Again a Cummins with a Carli or thuren suspension will get you the same height and a better ride and you can still tug 17k and have enough payload for 4 adults, bed full of beer and actual decent MPGs. Again I have owned both so I now know I would never want to tow with the PW again. Ryan is a loon in my book seeing his hauls on Facebook all the time.

Also dodge does have a great rep for towing with not only the Cummins but it's hemi line in the 2500s but that PW is a totally different animal with the axles and suspension. It was not meant to tow. You can't have a 900lb payload and expect to tow with it above 5 or 6k and put humans inside the cab.

If you plan on towing 2 jeeps again like that I think you have no choice other than diesel. Just the JKU alone you could run the gasser but I have seen guys with the 2500 6.4 using goosenecks and hauling the ghetto toy hauler setups with some decent loads. Just don't expect any sort of range on your fuel tank like that.

The 6.4 has the 6 speed auto that helps a lot over the old 4 speeds.

Yes the payload is low and softer. But that's great for my 95%+ usage.

It's light years better than a 1/2 ton though. Sags yes, but stable and confident IMO.

All stock Suspension for a few more weeks. Planning on some Thuren entry level stuff soon. Probably add air bags in the rear also.

Doesn't yours come stock with 34s? And why not 37s?

Also does yours have the really cool storage bins in the bedsides?

And I've had and towed with a Cummins manual dually, V10 Dodge 2500 and a couple half tons in the past for reference

PW comes with the shortest tires among the Ram HD 4x4s. Wish it had been 35s and 4.56s though. Barely trimmed plastic and pinchweld for the 37s.

Local shop did my install. I went in to order it since his price was pretty close to the online prices and he said he could so the install for 400 bones and would double their warranty for parts and labor. Boom. Dun.

Swapping the DMF flywheel looks like a huge PITA. I'll do any clutch replacement from here on but not having to dick with that OEM flywheel was worth double what I paid.
