actually towing capabilities would be improved. electric motors dont have to rev up to get their torque like
gas engines do. the awd tesla for example can out accelerate most/all cars. low end torque is one of the
advantages of going electric. its just that its going to drain your batteries that much faster when youre
towing something. as it is now the range, recharge time, cost and life span of batteries keep me from
    considering the move.

Exactly. Thats why they don’t make electric trucks yet. It won’t haul anything over time... so it won’t haul anything.

I’m ready for another resdesign of the Tacoma. I wanna know when thats gonna happen.

They have to go hydrogen as there isn't enough lithium in the world to go battery. They want electric cars so they can clean up emissions at the source (power plant ) rather than trying to clean up each individual car. In order to get their ultimate goal they have to get 60% of the people out of their cars and into mass transit then they might have enough lithium for the rest of the cars. This means cramming more and more people into large city centers. Utopian dreamers don't care about what the people want or need.

it takes a lot of power to make hydrogen, what are the cost benefits?
i think this would have already been in place if it was profitable.
i do agree this would be a good option

Diesel generators for electric motors like a locomotive! The Tacomotive!

My bet is there still aren't electric seat motors in a Tacoma in 2020 ;)

There were reports of a Ford/Toyota joint program to produce a hybrid truck. After they parted ways there were spy pics posted on the interwebs of an F150 with a possible charging port door forward of the passenger door. This would indicate that the vehicle was a plug-in hybrid.

A plug-in hybrid Tacoma wouldn't just save me gas money. I could also use it to drive in the carpool lanes all by myself.

Trucks have scads of space below the bed for a shitload of batteries so range would become less of an issue. Battery weight and motor weight could be arranged to provide better weight distribution and make on road handling far better than any current weight forward pickup.

How many Toyota or Lexus models have a 3.5l V6 with a hybrid drivetrain?

A hybrid option on the Tacoma could easily be their top end performer from a drivetrain output perspective.

Ridgeline is slightly better payload and Tacoma has slightly better towing, but neither is great at either of these. These trucks are not meant for heavy duty stuff. My DCLB 4x4 has a payload of 950 lbs. Put 4 adults in there, and it is a grocery getter.

Why doesn't Toyota start by making keyless entry a standard feature before they jump into the electric realm. Baby steps

A 3.5 hybrid would solve the low-end torque complaints. That’s where electric motors really excel. They produce maximum torque from a standstill, which is why they are used in diesel locomotives. There were experiments performed with direct drive, transmission-based locomotives when diesels were first replacing steam locomotives, but the advantages of electric power for getting the train rolling were evident early on. No railroad is wishing they had mechanical transmissions in their locos.

Most of the wear on an engine is starting it up with little or no oil on the bearings.

I wonder if there is a pressurized oil canister to prevent excessive wear.

I had one on my race car it fills under pressure when the engine is running and when you turn on the key it releases the pressureised oil in to the engine. Other benifiys it acted like an oil cooler and gave 2 extra quarts of oil
