Optilux H11 yellow fogs (Hella)

I installed some Optilux H11 fogs today. Purchased from Amazon $21. Very happy with them. Nice gold color. Pics are two different exposures back to back.



This pic shows very true to life color against a wall.

 

Confirms one thing for me I like the cut off/functionality of the factory fog lamps.

Are those bulbs a wtep up in wattage?

 

Yes the OEM cut off is nice. Doesn’t bother other drivers, and gets the yellow light where you want it in fog/rain/snow.

Nope, not a step up in brightness.

 

I use Sylvania ZXE H11's with German Made Hella Amber Film

 

Where did you get the film?

 

Does any know what the differences of using a film vs yellow bulbs are?

 

I tried finding listing again on Fleabay but the guy no longer can get the film, it was like 35.00 for 2 6" round pieces. Didn't look orange like the ugly LaminX stuff. Let me see if I can find another spot for it.

 

This is exactly the same stuff, real easy to work with and looks nice.

I've got a 3rd Gen, but i assume it doesn't make much difference for this question... did you apply the film with the lights in place or did you remove them, apply, and put hem back in?

 

Completely took em out, applied and let em cure for a few days before putting them back in

 

Bulbs still holding up? I was eyeing those h11s for my fogs.
Just ordered a set of optilux h7s for my r6.

 

Im running a set of Nokia h11 yellows for over 6 years without issue.

 

Yep holding up just fine. One thing to note- it's a very deep/dark color. You don't get much "usable" light. Asthetically they're awesome. But I'm missing the ditch lighting I had with regular bulbs to see deer. The yellows just don't get out there.

Been working great for the past 5-6 years.

 

Just a personal opinion, but I still don't understand the fascination with amber. Every scientific study I've seen says it has absolutely no advantage. Yes, it does look cool though.

 

I wanted the yellows for (arguably) better snow/rain viz. But I didn't realize how much I appreciated the white light in the ditches until it was gone. Definitely a give and take here. I fear deer more than the couple times a year I drive in a near whiteout. As such, the Philips VisionPlus will go back in in the spring.
