Worth fixing?

So I’m thinking about buying my friends single cab that he just wrecked. Trying to get it for under 1500. You guys think it’s worth fixing up? Maybe turn it into a flatbed with some bigger tires? Frame didn’t look too bad at a glance. I do have access to a frame rack if needed.. leaf springs blew out busted a brake line that’s all I really noticed! Forget the year but it’s a 4cyl 5 speed 133k

 

Dude, that's f'd up! However, if you can get it cheap enough and the drivetrain is good it would make a cool flat bed rig.

Check the frame above the axle. You might be able to find new bed sides also.

What happened to the back window? If the cab is smashed so bad that a window won't fit, that's kind of the straw that broke the camel's back.

 

Hey thanks for all the input guys. I’ll take a few more pics today. I think the window popped from the bed hitting the cab but I better check it out closely because that rear window could be a deal breaker! 1,500 still seems high for all the parts I’ll need hopefully he takes 800 I think that’s my limit.

 

buy and flip the drive train... part out anything else and take the scrap to the junk yard

I sure as hell wouldn’t fix it. Ain’t nobody got time for that.

What is the insurance salvage price? I assume the underwriter totaled it. How are the airbags?

Why didn't insurance write it off? Did he only have liability?

Anyway, if the truck is in good condition mechanically and you have access to a frame straightener, then I say go for it! Only 133K miles? It barely broken in!

That truck is just begging to be modded!

 

If you cant get a back window in it please make it a convertible with a fold down windshield.
