    Hi guy's/gals,

This old guy needs some advice re: lifting

My dealer can install a 3"F/2"R spacer lift for me ( I know the suspension lift is better but really not needed UNLESS you all feel otherwise). They will also do a tire and wheel package for me with XD series rims and BFG KO2 275/70/17 (E). We are currently working on price which is not really a factor in my question.

My truck is 95% on road. I want the height and aggressive looks mainly and to keep the ride close to stock . The MAIN reason Im EVEN considering this is because I have a bumper to bumper extended warranty to 100k and the dealer said what ever they install they will fully cover under warranty as if the truck was stock for the 100k miles. I put 20+K mile on per year but only keep my trucks for about 3-4 years. My truck is 5 months old , TRD Off Road DCSB 4x with Prem/Tech package. Ive done some cosmetic mods , Pro grill , Blacked out emblems , tonneau cover , bed matt , interior LEDS , Honda radio knobs , Ect....... the usual tinkering stuff.

Whats your thoughts on doing this ?? I would have the dealer put it in writing about the warranty coverage .

Get that warranty agreement in writing from Toyota, NOT the dealer- other members have been burned on this. The dealer may seriously overcharge you, and with that much of a lift, you may also need additional drivetrain work (needle bearing, etc) he won’t cover.

Good advice, I think potential issues with the warranty is the biggest concern.

I just left the dealer and they are figuring out a final price and the dealer WILL give me the warranty in writing . I have the Platinum warranty so it covers everything. Im getting info emailed to me on the MFG of the lift. I know they mark the $hit up $$$ but Im gonna haggle with them and see what happens. I specifically asked about the needle bearing and if they went bad they said it would be all covered. Needle bearing was a concern of mine too.

In the meantime Im going to call some places re: suspension lift Id actually actually like it a bit lower like a 2"F/1"R

In regard to those tires I might suggest something that isn't rated E. I had the K02 in 265/75/16 E-rated and they rode pretty rough even when aired down a bit. If you don't go offroad much the E-rated tire seems like overkill.

Also I think the OME Nitrocharger suspension kit with Dakars was the best lift option for the money and doesn't require any additional modifications like upper control arms (I paid $1k delivered a couple years ago, but not installed). It'll also ride better than the spacer lift from what I'm told having never run a spacer lift myself.

Good news, curious though- is that a Toyota dealer-wide warranty or a dealer specific one?
Give Headstrong Off-road a call, a lot of us have used them and even if you go elsewhere, they will be a big help answering your questions regarding ride vs. lift types.

I would clarify that they need to cover the bushing not the needle bearing. The needle bearing will fail and continue to fail with the lift. You dont want to be constantly bringing it in for replacement. You want them to put in the ECGS bushing and cover the bushing and be done with it.

Personal opinion, if you can swing it and they cover it, I would have them put on a suspension lift, OME Toytec etc. Blocks cause issues. It's great that they will warranty the truck but again, hassle when something breaks.

This a dealer specific thing. The dealers here do these spacer lifts. Toyota Corp has nothing to do with it nor would they put anything in writing.

I'll be the first I guess...I would really rethink that spacer lift if I were you and consider a suspension lift instead, your ride is going to be really uncomfortable with a 3" spacer up front and super stiff in the rear. You can do a 5100/OME setup front and rear for around $800 and have a much better ride, especially on a new truck.

Good suggestions- I also used 5100 and a Dakar AAL, really like it too.

Thank you all for the input. If I went with a 2"F/1"R would that be any better since its smaller than the dealer suggested 3"/2" ??

I will look into suspension options. OME 2" ect...... Im not a 5100 fan since I have 2 fail on me.

One more thing...... The spacers mentioned above are top out (basically strut extensions) Is whats the difference if I buy a 2" longer strut OME w/887's. Does it still put the stress in the bearings and bushings , steering , ect..... ??
