I'd probably use a windscreen with any stove. Just makes cooking more efficient. But if time is of the essence then the alcohol is out since it takes longer to get a boil.

Time is of the essence for sure when it's cold out. Also simple is a plus. I find the alcohol stoves a little fiddly, even in perfect conditions.

I saw those Sawyer S1/2/3 filters, they looked interesting. Pretty cool news on that micro-Squeeze!

    Dog.
Looking for advice. I walk my dog between 1.5 and 4 miles every morning and evening and I am looking for a water bottle carrier or something that will carry two water bottles. I have a collapsible bowl and have googled for it, but just cannot seem to find a simple thing.
Any guidance or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

they make waist bands that hold multiple water bottles. I think theyre geared more towards distance runners, but it may work out well for you!

Here's my setup; my dog hikes with a backpack and she absolutely loves it. I use the plyable water bags and she can hike with roughly 1 liter of water herself. It's also nice in very cold weather

I use something similar to this or my pup when we go for hikes. The "cap" doubles as his bowl so there's no need to carry extra stuff like a collapsible bowl. It doesn't have a huge capacity, the one I have (different brand) is right around 32oz. which is perfect for a few miles if you space it out right (also depending on the size of your dog/drinking requirements).

    https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/iconic-pet-travel-water-bottle-with-bowl/5020942?skuId=63634792&utm_source=bingpla&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=All%20Products&mcid=PS_bingpla_nonbrand__&creative=9338890556&device=c&matchtype=e&mrkgadid=3022664750&mrkgcl=609&rkg_id=h-76660ef4c9bdb9052b111c21755fc913_t-1515626944

I found mine by accident at some bargain store (probably Ross) a long time ago and use it every time I take the pup out.

edit: just re-read your post and saw that you're looking for a carrier, not a bottle, but the above bottle might still help cut down what you have to carry.

I use a gulpy. Similar to what you linked just the bowl part is on a swivel. Squeeze to get water out, then just fold back to itself.

    https://www.chewy.com/gulpy-h2o-to-...EgOUjTUSdXCW16eY2_8aAkFDEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

Just throw it in a smallish backpack with water for myself.

You might look at the MSR Whisperlite Universal. See my Avatar. It is on kerosene there.

Look at the Trangia. You would be amazed.
27 kit for one or two. But I like the 25 because the kettle options is a bit bigger. But, that is just me.
Efficiency, wind resistance, ease of use, fry, boil, saute, simmer, safe, easy to find fuel. You could get a multi fuel or gas set up, but I just use alcohol.
On our road trip I used my Trangia 25 more than any of the (Many) stoves I brought. It was the only fuel I had to buy more.

They recently reintroduced the Duossal kits. Stainless and aluminum clad. Available in Canad right now, and the US very soon. Cooking side stainless with the heating side aluminum.

Don't forget baking too. I've seen guys baking cinnamon rolls with their alcohol kits. Which type of alcohol do you use to cook?
Those big kits are so pricey!

I've already got a couple windscreens. Figure I'd get one of the smaller off-brand kits with pot holder and see what this is all about.

Since you have a Trangia do you have any fuel leaks?

    Yes, baking, too.
Denatured, Yellow Heet, but am switching over to the 'Green' stuff. 95% ethanol with less toxins. All the toxins are for is so you do not drink it.

Never had a leak. (Ha, they say empty the stove after use)
The seal on the cap should not be placed on the stove until cool. And the seal is a replaceable item.
There is a winter attachment to warm it before use.
Carbon felt works great with that.

I especially like the Trangia fuel bottles.

I also have old Trangia kits from the 50s/60s.

I do not find them slow.

    Ken in NC

    EDIT:
    https://www.trangia-central.com/
    Oh yeah, for the cold.
Remember this is a Swedish stove kit. Enough said?

Like all the puppers, but absolutely love this one (Springer?). I had a buddy that had one that was an awesome quail dog. He (Trooper) made it to over 15yrs. I’ve got none hiking dogs, actually just got a new rescue pup. Sorry, I kinda got off topic. Here is both my wennie dogs.

Really depends on what cameras and gear you're carrying. For a small bag like that there are cheaper options. There's no way I'd pay $60 for that bag. I use the following bag for my point and shoot. Besides the camera I have a minitripod, two batteries, wireless remote, remote transmitter, and a tripod mounting plate. Goes on lots of hikes and works like a charm.
