How’d your ass feel after you shit that goose?

 

I used to have a redbone hound who was a stone cold killer. We’d take him out when we went to my aunt’s farm and within 30 minutes he’d kill a groundhog. Got four one day; came back to the truck covered in blood, none of it his. Always brought the corpses to my grandmother, who was never as appreciative as he’d hoped.

One day, the rabbit that had been tearing up our neighbor’s garden appeared in our backyard. We opened the back door, expecting Beau to go tearing out after it. Instead, he went to point inside the house and moved so slowly that he looked like was on pause and advancing frame by frame. It took him 30 minutes to cross 20 feet. Everyone came over and we watched this showdown from inside the house; the rabbit, frozen, ears up - the dog, unnaturally still, methodical, calculating. It beat anything on Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom. When Beau had gotten to within about 15 feet of the rabbit, it must have sensed that danger was close. It dropped its ears and just as it hunched to bound away he lunged. Rabbit made it 10 feet and Beau had him. Snapped its neck instantly.

Elaine (our neighbor) bought him a full cow femur that night. Took him a month to get through it...but he’d earned it.

I still miss that dog.

 

Hydrogen peroxide and baking soda is magic, my Italian greyhound never learned.

Fixed it when I got on the computer and saw where you liked it. Noticed it myself then. lmao

 

It happened at home. Wife was nice enough to open the door and let the dog inside.






There is nothing worse that fresh, chunky, skunk spray strewn around the house. She cleaned the dog, then the house. Smell went away, about two weeks later. She learned to do a sniff test before letting the dog inside now.

 

The peroxide is the key. It breaks down the proteins in the spray that cause the stink. The longer you let it work, the better. Have to be careful around the eyes with it.

 

I laughed when I read it. Thought it must have hurt like hell!!

I need to get back into waterfowling, and am supposed to go Saturday.
