I agree. With the Ferd, I like the ABS and the advanced traction control system which kicks in over 15 mph but generally disable the traction control system which operates under 15 mph. It cuts in a little too early and sometimes being able to spin in snow to chew down to pavement is the quickest way to get moving.
I've had my share of butt-puckering moments due to Toyota's ABS system. I certainly don't miss that part of my Tacoma.

It rarely kicked on in my Outbacks. Only if it was a very low traction situation like trying to stop on ice.

The worst thing about the Tacoma's is sometimes I'll have hit a little patch of something and I know why it kicked on, but then I'm clearly on pavement and it won't let up and let me brake normally. If I take my foot off the brake for a second or two it will, but there's not usually enough time for that.

Yeah, the F150 the only way that you know it's working is that you can feel it tickling the pedal. The Tacoma always sounded like the way that the ABS worked was that the ABS sensor and the brake rotor chewed on each other until you caught traction again.

Personally, I very much prefer the foot-actuated ABS system in my '84 over the more modern, computer-controlled designs. But if I have to have a modern system, the Ford's isn't bad.

I would generally agree with you but have learned the benefit of the modern system thanks to the F150. The higher speed traction control has saved me a couple times. One time, I probably could have saved it myself but the other time, I was pretty hopelessly sliding damn near sideways towards and tree and it somehow got the truck to regain enough traction straighten out enough to regain control. Pretty sure I would have made my mark on that tree otherwise.

ABS is way too sensitive on these trucks. I pulled the fuse because I can stop in the snow without it.

Well yeah, there's exceptions to every rule. But the vast majority of the time I prefer to do it myself.

Foot actuated? You can't be trusted to operate the brakes silly human!

I'm a throwback from a bygone era, from the ancient past somewhere between stone tools and today.

Edit- I can't be trusted to operate technology correctly, half the time.

    Happy birthday @Sloth !

I thought the ABS was bad on my 2G with the KOs and the electric brake booster. With snows it wasn't early as bad. I don't find the 3G to be as intrusive.

That being said I don't ever recall the ABS kicking on in the Subaru or Vette.

None. ABS works as designed until you hit the switch.

Dash lights are only on when the switch is on.

The tire light and maintenance required lights don’t come on with the switch. I don’t have TPMS & I just haven’t reset the maintenance light yet.

Is it because mine's manual that I don't use abs offroad? I can't remember ever feeling mine kick in, but I also will just put it in 4lo and first or second and just coast

Morning everybody. Icy up here this morning; saw two vehicles off the road on my way in to work, both of them on I-95. One of them must have really been flying; he went probably 50 feet after he hit the snowbank.
