My truck is having some long cranking issues. Happens randomly, I’m sitting here at the stealership being treated like dirt. Here’s the link https://youtu.be/VxyLL-2KgWE

They have the video, it’s crazy the service manager told be could be due the cold. It cranked just fine this am (9 degrees) this started last Saturday temp was in the 40s . It’s still under warranty only reason I’m here.

Sounds like battery to me... mine was doing the same thing but was still starting OK before I swapped my stock battery out for an AGM deep cycle.

Sounds like the battery is cranking that over so fast you could put it gear (if manual) and drive it home..... NOT battery...

    Guys...it is cranking at 300 RPM...see Tach..

It's no spark or no gas.... It won't go till we got BOTH..!! Likely slow to get the gas to where it's supposed to be...! My guess is "slow gas"..!

Let us know what the Dingbats say...!!

Toyota said. They couldn’t find anything wrong with my taco. That they would have to duplicate the issue while the truck was hooked up to their computer

Tell them to hook their computer to the truck and you'll bring it back right after it happens next time.... hehehe...:rofl:

That's how my diesel Hilux starts in cold weather. That 3.5L ticks like a diesel and starts like a diesel without being a diesel

Idk what I’m going to do. They said to leave it there and they’d periodically start it to see if they can duplicate. Leaving the gym awhile ago it fucking does it again.

What is the temp where you live?
Do they use winter gas where you live? Winter gas is formulated differently to help start your vehicle when it's cold.
Are you using cheap gas or top tier gas?

I live in Kansas temps have been all over the place from 65 to 0 it literally changes at the blink of an eye. . I pump regular unleaded from Phillips 66, I’ve used their fuel before. But I think the long cranking began after the last time I fueled up. Usually fueled up on thursdays then the first time I had the long cranking was two days later on Saturday .

To me it sounds like your not getting enough fuel when the Truck starts cranking. Not sure if throttle by wire will allow extra fuel into the cylinders like a throttle cable would. But from my experience when that happens I would give my old car some gas and it would start.

Since fuel and battery have already been mentioned...

Do you have the updated crank position sensor?

20,500 miles on a 2016? Lot of short trips?
Check spark plug(s)? Carbon and/or oil fouled, maybe?
FWIW, Denso specs a FK20HBR8 at 0.8mm gap.
