I’ve been looking at some after market nerf bar steps to pit on my Access cab SR. I looked at the install instructions one some and novices they attach to the rocker panel. Do most of them attach this way? I thought they would mount to the frame. I’m wondering how strong they will be attached to the rocker.

On the rocker- Strong enough for two to stand on, weak enough for a rock to remove them.

Super simple install. Unscrew the 12 plastic tabs, bolt on the bars. Like others have said, they're just to assist getting in and out. And, for me, reduce mud splatter and rock chips on the doors.

By the way, you can bolt up any bars from the 2nd gen as well.
