So I was wondering, does a 4runner ride like a Tacoma? A friend of mine who test drove a 4runner said it rode "rough" and bought a highlander instead. I tried talking my wife into a 4runner, but after she heard that, she wants another Pilot. Never drove/rode in a 4runner, anybody on this one?

Not sure, but the Highlander is a perfect family hauler. I'd go for it over the Pilot if i had to do it again for the wife.

My '16 4Runner rides much smoother and quieter than my '11 DCSB Taco did.

Same here. My '16 4Runner is way smoother than my '14 Tacoma.

A 4runner will ride more like a truck than a unibody Highlander or competitor. Just general acquisitions. Engineered different.

My buddy has a 4Runner with the KDSS and it rides pretty smooth. My truck rode fairly smooth but the factory leafs sag if you put a bag of dirt in the back.

Unibody Pilot drives much better, its lighter, less rigid and has independent suspension. The 4runner is a truck with rear coils rather than the tacomas leaf springs. They drive way smoother over rough terrain.

I personally would rather have the Pilot for daily driving, I've had an older one previously.

The 4runners are heavy and overbuilt for what most people use them for. Most women that buy them typically like the higher stance and the idea of all terrain ruggedness.

4runner is easily the best built Toyota currently, still made in Japan. But for driving experience it falls short.

My '14 T4R (4x4 Limited) rides better than my previous '12 Tacoma (4x4 DCSB OR T|X Pro) did.

T4Rs have some basic differences in suspension depending on which model however. Can't answer or help with other versions.

My 4Runner rides smoother than my husband's Tacoma.
Idk what Victoria, TX is like -- does she do a lot of inner city driving? If not, get her the 4Runner over a Highlander or Pilot and she'll be happy.

I put the TRD off-road coils from my Tacoma on my 5th gen 4Runner . Lifted the front nearly two inches and I like the ride better that the stock 4 runner coils. Not sure how it would work out in reverse .

4Runners ride nice but have always felt cramped in the leg room to me. However, I haven't driven the newest gen yet.
