Broke timing chain on startup!!!

It needs to be dual blend. Not diesel only. The chemical differences can be detrimental to the gasoline engine. Fact. Not my opinion.

 

getting back to the original topic - Was the truck fixed?? What was found???

 

I recently pulled a full size Dodge 4x4 out of his driveway with my Tacoma. The snow was getting deep, but not that bad. That more than balances out this picture.

 

Looked like the tensioner failed.... everything else looked fine. It’ll be done tomorrow had to wait on a power steering pump

 

Just checking into final cause.... Bad chain tensioner failed to properly tension chain and it skipped a sprocket or two???? Any specific issues /reason/cause seen with the tensioner?

No visual issues.....

 

Not wanting to be a pain here (I know too late) but was the final resolution??? "No visual issues ..." says to me nothing was found wrong but you changed the timing chain/guide gears?
Did the Timing chain Jump for no reason?? As A 2.7 owner I'm interested.

 

I would guess the tensioner failed due to oil being cold and thick? Nothing else looked even close to wrong?

 

Ok Thanks - Root cause was chain jumped on sprocket and changed timing.
