There's another thread here where someone had repeated flex plate failures. Is it possible to install the flex plate backwards?

There's nothing wrong with the auto on a trail or mall.

IMO manual transmissions are over-rated as frig for a daily driver

You did use red lock tight on everything right. I had to use red on everything. The star patten is correct on the center of the flex plate. How ever hopefully you bolted the flex plate to the torque converter.

Oh I just saw you say you didn't use lock tight. Dam...... hopefully that wasn't the problem. Dam...

That price is a little high. I just had this done on my 2nd gen at an indy 4x4 shop for $700.

It includes the price of an OEM flexplate which is 300 from Toyota. I got quotes for $750 from other shops but the reviews were iffy and this shop had a mechanic who actually sounded like he knew what he was talking about.

Technically you could. There’s 2 smaller plates that could be installed wrong as well.

Doubt that caused this issue so quick, but loctite on the threads is called from the factory, or they will work loose eventually

The mechanic I was speaking to was an ASE Master Tech according to his jacket. I feel pretty confident he knows what he's doing. Turns out he was the owner. I've passed by that shop for years and I never thought I'd end up using it.

They have reaaaallly good reviews on Yelp, most of them are from truck owners.

Certainly seems like a lot less fuss haha. I hope the cruiser auto never goes cause it weighs more than my engine and trans in the taco :anonymous:
