Has anyone tried to illuminate the mirror switch on the dash? Or can it be done?

    @jabrackin,

Kind of an old thread, but I was wondering the same thing. I came across this and ordered it. I'll let you know how it goes. Supposedly it's just plug and play.

    It actually worked!

    20180124_165229.jpg 20180124_165353.jpg

    Important takeaways:
    • Although it looks way different in the pictures, it actually matches really well.
    • The power for the LEDs comes from the mirror control 12v so the LEDs are on whenever the key is at or past accessory mode. (I always keep my dash lights on so it doesn't bother me). You could re-wire it independently if you wanted to though.
    • It was a true plug and play. All the functions work. The little switch in the corner is for my heated mirrors but I assume you could use the same switch and just have an extra button.

Here's a better shot of just how close the colors look in person.

Does the mirror control switch have a bulb with a colored “condom” over it? Or is it an LED hidden inside?

I wonder if the color could be better matched.

Seems it isn’t easy to find the Toyota Hiace part number for the switch assembly that illmantes everything.

Has anyone found a Toyota switch that doesn’t have the mirror fold button yet illuminated the correct color for the 12-15 trucks?

    Thank you sir!
So the color actually matches really well .The pictures don't do it justice at all. I had multiple Tacoma owners ask what package I had for that switch to come factory haha

    That’s cool.

I purchased that wiring adapter separately yesterday and did a crap-ton of Google and internet hunting and believe I found the “other” factory switch but w/out the folding mirror switch. (I’m OCD) didn’t want that folding mirror button.

I have a 2012-2015 Prius switch coming used from eBay, key is it has to be an upper model of Prius.

If you hunt eBay you find lots and lots of the non-illuminated switch. You want the illuminated switch which should be Toyota PN:84760-28030, however if you search that number on eBay you will see listings galore that ARE NOT the illuminated switch. Turns out salvage yards sell the switch I think I need usually in the panel it is mounted in. Looks to be a lower left dash panel of sorts. Pic of my winning auction is below also.

Illuminates green in the “mirror” segment.

Once I get it installed I’ll post back up here.

Appreciate you ginea pigging this one!

That's great work! Yea I only had the folding mirror button to control my heated mirrors. Otherwise I am completely onboard with the OCDness! Haha

To confirm, the "illuminated switch without folding mirror" part number is 84860-28030 or 84870-28030?

    Should be 84870-28030

    My bad, I corrected it.

But be careful on eBay as you search that number though, you’ll be led to Prius switches from the earlier years like 02-09 or something. You need an upper model 2012-2015 switch witch will have the back plug matching the other end of the harnes plug. Your stock wire end plug will not go into it.

I ended up just searching “Toyota Prius mirror switch” and sorted by high to low price and started to scroll. I eventually found two and one was 70 or so and I believe I scored my one in the panel for 53 or so.

Please wait until I confirm it though.

I’m chillin and hopefully both items will arrive next week.

Fyi I did this mod using the adapter cable, you don't have to use a Prius switch... I got one from a 2016 Corolla iirc and it works great. Had to change the LED though as default is blue

When you say change the LED, was it an LED or is it a bulb with a condom?

Good to know it’s easier than I thought.

    Awesome!

I believe it was a 1mm smd led that I removed and resoldered to the board...

    Well she works great!

Plugged in the harness and switch and all works.

Turns out there is no “illumination” wiring to the factory switch “of course” so they have to tap into the 12V switched power for the illumination of the Prius switch.

No biggie as I’ll probably find the illumination power to the switch right beside it and tap into it.

I’m not too concerned about the color but I may remove the switch b/c it’s super easy to get it out and pull it apart and see what is providing the color in there.

    ADHD/OCD FTW!
