Alright some of you electronic guru's. I have been told an HDMI Cable is a HDMI Cable. I am in the middle of switching everything over to 4k and see a lot of Audioquest HDMI Cables, Rocketfish HDMI Cables, and many other brands. I have been told it's all the same from the basic HDMI Cables to the top quality Audioquest. True or false????

After researching I have found my answer that the difference in them is as much snake oil as an aftermarket CAI. @jberry813 please delete

Amazon Basics or Monoprice for HDMI cables. Those Monster/RocketFish/etc are just priced to make someone rich.

Some also say you don't need to upgrade the current HDMI Cables for 4k as they will work just as well as some that are labeled for 4k

Oh, certainly use what you have before buying anything new. With HDMI (or anything digital) your TV will either get the data or it wont. If the picture doesnt appear or it is dropping parts of the image then you need a new cable. Not like analog where the picture can be lower quality but still be fully viewable.

While I can't speak to the 4k issue, I do know that my budget HDMI cables perform as well, at least to my eyes/ears, as the pricier models.

I've used several different types of cables from www.cablesondemand.com and always had good results at a great price.
