My initial thoughts: Looks boring, generic, neither tough looking, nor ugly, just "whatever". Dont like the high-sided bed.....that's always annoying if loading stuff in and out. Will the 2nd gen TRD skid plate fit on this Ranger?

Anyways....might be a great rig, but not much to look at.

imo, the Ranger will attract some buyers. Will the Ranger overtake the Tacoma is sales, very doubtful.
For me it is a nice looking truck. Without specs and pricing it is too soon to say if I would be interested. My current truck (Frontier) is a 2016. Since I tend to keep trucks 8-10 years, I won't be purchasing a new truck for some time. Only change would be if the current truck got totaled in an accident. I had a Ford Ranger years ago. No issues and was not a bad small pickup.

I also find it interesting the comments by some that the Ranger is ugly. Well how soon some posters forget some of the comments made about the 3G Tacoma when it was first being released. Some called it "ugly" because of a pig like front grill. I actually like the looks of the Tacoma. I also like the looks of the Nissan and the new Ranger.

Maybe they make a reliable truck but their Q.C. is terrible. Some of you guys may have great trucks but some of us are dealing with problems. YMMV.

Waiting for the mini raptor. Unless forced induction really wakes up the pro, will be making the jump. Unfortunate after over 400k combined miles on my tacomas. Always gonna love the taco, but Toyota did drop the ball with a car motor in a truck.

(For those of you who love your truck, great, all the power to you and your opinion)

Turbo failures are not a common fail on any of the ecoboost engines nor in the 6.7 diesel in Superdutys.

Looks pretty sharp to me as well, I would be interested in driving it just to see how it compares to the 2nd and 3rd gen tacos.

Family had ford dealership for 97 years. We had lots of ecoboost engines in for oil leaks, fire potential from overheating, turbo issues. Many recalls and issues. They've gotten better in the bigger displacement ecos, but trying to get so much hp and torque out of those little motors seemed to be an issue at times.

It is actually hard for me to believe this is the best that Ford could do for styling. They basically had everyone waiting, so could have done anything. Even trucks that elicit an initial negative reaction, have my respect, because you know that the look might grown on you, but this truck is truly a bland "styling by committee" / "offend no-one" sort of offering. Doesn't move my blood.

Again, who know how the truck will work. Maybe it will be awesome.

Not ugly, just blah and unimpressive. Really thought they'd try to make a splash with a sharp, aggressive looking truck.

Perhaps they will get it right on the raptor series in 2020 or 2021

The specs on that thing is pretty knarley. Everyone is going after the Tacoma. Will the Ranger put a dent in sales? Who knows? On paper the Tacoma looks primitive. But we all know that ranger Will be a nightmare to maintain. But when the Ranger Raptor sales go through the roof. I bet it will get a nasty V6 With 12-14inchs of travel. A diesel option might even pop up.

The only thing stopping me from going to a new raptor is the fact that they keep eco boosting everything. We get it, smaller engines more MPG more power. Eco boosts are really only good for road use, anything off road is meh.

It already has a better engine right out the gate. It’ll have all the options guys come to this site and whine about their Taco not having. The truck in the video is fairly generic looking I’ll admit, but in different colors and an off road type trim it looks a lot better.

I’ve had a Focus RS for a year and a half with no issues. It’s got tons of aftermarket stuff for more power. I’m new to the Tacoma scene, but I’ve been really surprised that there isn’t anything for the 3rd gen yet. I dunno, the ranger will have a really big advantage in that area a lot of people will find attractive. It’s not a bad looking truck, I’m sure the sport version with the right tires and suspension will be more aggressive looking. It’s a year away though, it’ll be interesting to see the rest of it unfold.

Y’all are crazy. Aesthetically speaking, that thing is really well done, especially compared to every other contemporary truck on the market... and I mean midsize and full size. This is handsome, yet understated. It also won’t look dated AF in 5-10 years.

I think they want to separate the Ranger from the F150 so thats probably why only the 4cyl eco boost.I were in the market I would look at it just based on the numbers alone.
