So, I’m making my insurance agent do what I pay him for. He’s gone to bat for me, trying to get a better valuation on my pro. Should know today, or tomorrow.

    Update:
Finally settled on a value for my pro with the insurance company. Huge pain in the ass. Their process uses a recent transaction history for a 50 mile radius. I told them that was going to be a problem in central Illinois, due to the scarcity of pros on the road here. When that became obvious to them, it was a case of “we need to get approval to go outside the parameters”, blah, blah, blah... drug their feet horribly. When they finally came up with a value, all wrong. (Of course)
Declined that. Waited for a few days, for another manager to get involved.
Bent his ear for an hour on the phone. He sends me the “independent company” analysis that they consider gospel. One of the three comparable recent sales (now we are out to a whopping 127 mile radius. Really?) was sold for $33k. I told him on the phone that was in no way possible for a 2017 pro with avg miles. Now I’m just pissed. ME: “ was it involved in a fire? Is it parked in a salvage yard?” No way this is possible.
I ran the vin through a Toyota owner’s vin identification tool. Sure enough, sport model. I emailed it to this kid that is a “manager”. I told him that his trusted source was feeding him bad data. He verified my findings, and called them. They adjusted the value to something that was within the range of acceptability, but barely. They just wear you down with all the BS.
So, at the end of the day, you have to watch out for yourself. No one else will.

On the upside, put a deposit on a 2018 Cavalry blue Pro! Set to pick it up on 1/22. Really happy to get back in a Taco! Been driving my wife’s scion iM.
sorry bout the crappy pic. Dealership photo on line. 400miles from home.
    Here’s “Big Blue”

Thats awesome on the new ride. That sucks that you had to do the job for the insurance company though. Looking forward to reading the report of your new Pro when you pick it up. That color is definitely growing on me. Enjoy your new truck.

I know, right? Wanted a nearby 2017cement that was not overly optioned, but it sold while the insurance co was fumble f*cking around. Decided that the 2018 black had no contrast with all the black bits. White reminds me of being in my work truck. (Utility employee here)
Kept looking at pics the blue (obsessively), and decided it was pretty cool.

I know I was one of the first ones bashing on it here, lol..
It’s one of those colors that mess with cameras in certain lighting. It does have a split personality, much like me

The guilty party is a self insured truck company, using a small time claims service. They immediately sent someone to look at my truck, but since there was another semi that lost control before this guy hit us, they are trying to drag out paying anything, while I presume they are trying to defer blame. The guy told my body shop he was in no hurry. I figured my own company would take care of their own, and then use subrogation to recoup their money. They were piss poor, but probably better that this fly by night trucking firm.

Thanks for clarification. So now any financial economic loss you have to go after the guilty party for loss....What a pain in the ass.

Wow that is amazing you and the family walked away. Alot of callerteral damage.
If I may suggest OP make sure you keep a good eye on the whip lash, mine even though minor still bugs me someday. Do the physio etc after.

I've been in two non fault accidents before, one of which wrote off my 2012 Taco- and all I can say is now after all that and about 20 years of driving is that you can be the best driver in the world but its the other people that wreck your day and potentially worse.

OP so what did insurance end up paying you for loss?

I did not overpay for the pro, luckily. In fact, I got $2000 off msrp. I do think they hit my trade (a low mile Tacoma) about $500-$700 low, and I bought at a small Toyota/ford store in the heart of f-150 country (macomb, Illinois). I walked in the last day of September, two hours before close. They wanted to sell a truck. They got a really nice trade, everyone walked away happy.

So, I got what I paid for it, plus the value of my new truxedo Lo Pro tonneau. Of course I had to fight with them for half a week. But obviously it is costing me more to replace it.

Lol! Yeah, wasn’t there a thread on here where the guy said he heard you would void the warranty if you drove a trd off-road on the highway? That must be what I did wrong. I’ll do better this time...

Maybe. Unless your plan was to single handedly drive up the resale market by wrecking pro's one at a time... Then I say good job lol.

Glad it has all worked out.
Sucks that you had to do the leg work to get your correct value.

I experienced an accident 2 yrs ago and felt the same about my gen 1 it performed in way one could only hope and we all walked away. My family and I are glad you and your family are all ok , on a side note we had AAA auto insurance and we were quite satisfied with the settlement they used a vin, NADA and similar sold valuation to arrive at a fair in my opinion settlement. good luck with all.
