Others have pointed it out. It would be nice to have more adjustments especially on long drives. Hitting a button to change positions is nice. I really don’t need multiple memory position storage, really for a limited model, it should have it. It’s not high tech...

Yeah it’s not new science. I’m just wondering from your perspective between the new ranger or new Tacoma if it was just a seats thing, where you would stand. I can’t imagine coming from that perspective so it’s interesting

Because NO ONE in that truck is going to do anything worth recording.

I think all Tacoma owners are secretly hoping this truck is not “better” than our trucks. It would be better for all our egos if it was a failure.

In regards to our Tacomas, we might gripe about them, but most on this forum are only here because we are proud Tacoma owners and enjoy modding them, talking about them, taking pictures of them in cool locations, etc. Some even like driving them!

Somehow, I just don’t see that changing. There is something different and compelling about Toyota. Likely just decades of marketing, but maybe not. Toyota does have a secret sauce they put into the Tacoma that earns it its prominent place in the minds of adventure seekers, mall crawlers, overlanders, mountain bikers, and grocery getters. Not sure Ford will be able to sprinkle that pixie dust on this bland looking Ranger any better than GM could on the ZR2.

No matter how superior the new Ranger may or may not be, I think the cache of owning a Toyota Tacoma will still be there, whether justifiable or not.

Like......do you think our pal Jimmy is going to be rolling around in a Turquoise Ranger? I dunno....I don’t think it would be as cool.

i saw the live Ranger debut, and it actually doesn't look too bad.

Toyota has got to do something. The Hilux is losing the war to the Ranger world-wide and now the Ranger is going for the Hilux's cousin.

After seeing the New Ram and Silverado, the Tundra seems like it was made in ancient times.

I really like that Trail Boss.

I’m leaning to the Tacoma as it has a non turbo engine. I really want the high reliability of Toyota as I will be towing off road and non cellular regions. Since the 18 are on the third year of production that is also significant vs a new model, even if they say the components are proven. My 2 cents.

Yeah there’s some proud tacoma owners. I think it comes from being the alternative to the fords and chevys, being simple and durable and fun. 3rd party candidate. The other guys can’t replicate that feel. I’m smug, and I think it’ll be funny when fords re issue flops. It’s nice pulling up to a stoplight next to a jacked up domestic, and Im wearing that grin. Because homies girl wants to be in my truck because I smile more, and I wear my truck with an athletic-like style domestics don’t have.

Have you looked into the pros and cons of both the I4 and V6?

I have done some research into the turbo engines, and they have their place. I have a twin turbo I6 that produces a lot of hp and torque. Fine for a sports car. You had better use good oil...

After seeing a gauntlet video on a ford 3.5 EB towing 7400lbs, it was impressive. It was also running high rpms and 3.5 mpg.

For my truck, I prefer to be no turbo as mentioned. The taco v6 has sufficient torque for my needs.

    3.5 mpg?

    Is that a good thing?

I don’t think so. Maybe that is why Ford is coming out with their diesel for the F150. In my my opinion, towing is where the EPA rating fall flat and not representative of real life.

I must say. The “Raptor” version of the ranger in South Africa was cool as hell. I wanted one when I was there 2 months ago :anonymous:

Interesting, it looks like Hilux must of had a great end of the year since the numbers were a dead heat in September. Regardless that's a pretty tight sales lead and the Ranger and Hilux are way ahead of the competition, similar to how Ford and GM cream Ram in North America for sales.

That's what I believe too, it will sell primarily to people that had Rangers before or no longer want full size 150s/250s. New customers don't seem to cross shop the different brands like they used too other than reading the internet for reviews / reputation but only if they like the looks then they'll buy it.

Ridgeline had all kinds of great reviews but the looks have killed it in this market. Honda people are not really truck people.

Good to see competition, but no manual option automatically rules it out for me, no matter how good and quick the new 10 speed is.

Interested to see the almost certainly coming Ranger Mini Raptor, but I sincerely hope for Ford's sake that they stuff a bigger engine in there. turbo or not, 2.3L is a little small for a truck that's supposed to tow and haul stuff around.

6 speed manual and cloth interior.

I don't see a whole lot different in looks from this truck and the NA version that Ford announced.
