First impressions are it’s a big truck . Taller to get into sets much higher. Don’t see the hood like in the taco. It slopes off more. Less comfortable seats. More wind noise. Suspension is more harsh than the OR. Engine is very similar you have to rev it and then it goes. Gas mileage sucks. 15.8 average. That was fighting a pretty good head wind though. Less than 200 miles at 65-75 and 50 miles left to empty. Filled it this am and the display says 282 miles to empty. So the overall range is not good.
This is a rental on a business trip. Would I trade my Taco for an F150! No way!!!!

You probably have an XLT with the 3.5 non turbo. That combo is a large pile of shit

Granted I get 15.5 in my taco, so I guess it’s not worse than mine

What would this section be without discussing Ford's or Jeep's? At least we aren't discussing color options.

I drive a f150 4x4 Larit crew cab with 2.7 ecoboost for work a lot. I would say the comfort is better wind noise probably the same as a stock taco. Gas mileage in town is about 16 in town. I can get 18-19 on the highway with it. Ride is better than my or when it was stock. I feel the 2.7 engine is much better low range rpms than our 3.5. All these should be better for a 50,000 dollar+ truck.

I would I buy one myself no.

True. I wonder what color the F150 was.

I got put in a 2017 F150 with the V8 when my Tacoma was in having warranty work done on the SRS system. For the 3 days I had it, I was getting about 18 MPG mixed driving. It was a very, very smooth riding truck (compared to my Taco Sport), and the V8 roared. Obviously it was a different class of truck from the Tacoma, and I haven't driven a Tundra to compare it with. But for the 3 days I had it, it was really pretty nice.

I don’t see how people see this as an apples to apples comparison, and then leads into a huge shitstorm of why the taco is better in their opinion. Their use cases are completely different.. the taco has a plastic bed for fk sake lol

Definitely not apples to apples. The F150 is a full sized truck. It a very nice truck, but for me it’s bigger than I want or need. I intentionally rented it to see the difference. My significant other had an F150 and kept telling me I should have bought one instead of the Taco. Now I have confirmed to myself I made the right choice, for me. I don’t need the full size, the extra seats, or 10 mpg less.

Are you getting somewhere between 28-30mpg in your taco?

most people that buy F150s (private owners) don't keep them around too long , they lease them and get another in 3 years. most Taco owners keep them for years and 200K and over miles are the norm for Tacomas with limited issues and regular maintainence keep on going, whereas Fords will be lucky to get to 40k miles before the owner gets rid of it.

Yep sure was, but some people can't figure out that this is a Tacoma forum, and specifically a subsection for discussion about the 3rd gen

    Not Fords
