Anybody in the area have experience with checking AT fluid level? Have lost hope in finding a good dealer that will actually do what you ask for. 2017 with tow package. No issues at all, just want the piece of mind

When you do, let me know. Dealer refused to check mine. Haven't really had any problems, but if it's low I'd like to at least know and get it topped off.

I've done it on my 2nd gen I'd imagine it's a similar process. If you don't mind the drive Cox Toyota in Burlington has done everything I have asked and most of the techs are enthusiasts as well.

Will do, or if I feel confident enough once doing it myself. Wouldn't mind passing the help along

Thats the kind of dealership I'm looking for. Everyone in the Charlotte area just wants in and out quickly as possible. All about the coin. I will definitely give them a call

I've been reading up on it for awhile. Just makes me a little nervous not getting the process right. Have a ScanGauge II w/ trans temp capabilities already. Also have a 2nd gen company vehicle thats gaining a 100k miles and would like to service the trans myself. So may take the plunge and figure it out

I'm tempted just to throw in half a quart without checking it, being that mine is an "early" 2016 production model, I'm sure it is a bit low...a little extra can't hurt, right?

The way you check it is to bring it up to temp and check through the fill plug(If it comes out it's full). So have a quart on standby since the fill process is the same.

IIRC on the third gens it has to hit right at 115*F then shut down the engine, I don't think it can be completely up to temp otherwise the fluid is too thin...which is why it is such a PITA to check it.

Could be wrong, I haven't really looked too much into it since I don't have issues with mine.

They can be a pain to get into they are always busy even with an appointment for an oil change plan to sit there for an hr. I have never had them come to me and try and upsale me anything I've had to ask them to do extra work I wanted. Being an ex mechanic and not having a place to work on my stuff anymore and finding someone I trust to work on my stuff I have a pretty high standard they must reach.

If you have the scan gauge you are golden! Most all manufacturers these days have a similar process for changing the auto trans fld. getting away from the dipsticks so dipsticks don't screw things up and hopefully only qualified techs do anything to them. The high end euro cars don't even have an oil dipstick anymore the fill is done either through the dash info gauges or scan tool.

Most cars procedures are generally the same, when you shut it down the torque converter and pump would shut off and you would get incorrect readings. I also haven't looked at the 3rd gen process but don't believe it would be much different.

People forget the 20+" we got back in '99 or the 12+ like 6 yrs ago or so. This is just a dusting and nothing, not even enough to really to find an abandoned parking lot or something and have some fun.

    Found it.

ETA - almost seems like a two person job, having one person watch the dash indicator to make sure it doesn't go over 113*F while the other person checks and fills with fluid if necessary.
