Spintires: Mudrunner

Is anyone else playing? It just came out for console - XBone and PS4.

Its as close to an offroading game as you can get. Open map w/ a bunch of big, Russian-made rigs for you traverse across woods, rivers, and of course - mud.

I've played a few hours, and its pretty fun. A nice change from all the FPS games I've been into lately. There is a multiplayer section, but I haven't tried it out yet.

 

Eh I enjoyed this for the first few minutes back when it was just "Spintires" on PC. Eventually the developer abandoned it... Probably to cash-how the consoles again.

It basically turns into "As long as you don't drive into the water you'll get there... eventually."

 

It JUST came out on console? Been out for ~4 years on pc haha

Not a bad way to kill some time, also check out BeamNG.Drive, Rigs of Rods, and Gigabit Off-Road on mobile.

 

according to the reddit AMA, they're going to continue working on this one.. new maps, new vehicles, etc. I'm having fun with it so far. Its a good change of pace game.

Beam.NG is alright for dat body damage. Most of the mods are trash at best though. Stick to new maps. Sucks 'cause it would be really cool if they mirrored proper suspension component behavior...

Gigabit Offroad doesn't get updated fast enough and, while interesting, is basically impossible to make a proper prerunner/trophy truck. You gotta do some awful bullshit with huge wide tires and axles to get any amount of stability.

They had to rerelease the game in order to continue working on it b/c problems with the previous publisher/developer relationship. Now, with more money (console release) they will probably continue to produce content and most likely paid DLCs (I predict, SpintiresuneRunner). Anyways, couple of good trucks have been ported over to the new game. Within a year there will be dozens of new maps and hundreds of vehicles to play with.

Rock climbing in an FJ80 right now, with the rock friction mods and the countless trucks (besides the millions of Russian trucks) this games badass. I’ve been playing it for a couple years

I just got it. It’s fun! I spent 55 mins trying to get that dang truck out of the river in challenge 6 lol.

 

Just got this game and spent all day yesterday playing it. I like that it isn't a racing game and is full of weird Soviet trucks which I've always been a geek for, realistic for sure! Using that crane to load logs is probibly the hardest thing I have done in a video game, took me an hour to load a truck!

Probibly the most realistic 4x4 game I've played since screamer4x4.

 

Its an OK game, I play it when I get FPS fatigue. PS4

I havnt owned a console in a long time (except my n64 and nes boxed up somewhere) so i cant say 100% for sure...

But im 99% sure it will be coming out for consoles too. (More platforms more money)

Yep it will be. I just looked it up. Awesome! I just wonder if mods will ever come to the console versions.

 

Haven't played much of this lately.. kinda got burned out on it.. and pulling an Austin Powers between two twigs that a 3/4 ton truck would easily run over is slightly infuriating..


The American expansion is intriguing.. I may give it a shot soon.

 

Just added it on for $9 fuck it. So far in five minutes I managed to get the Chevy stuck.
