How are you liking the 6spd auto? I haven't read too many reviews on here about those paired with the 4 cylinder. Seems like the extra gears would help keep you in the power band more though

Nice! were both of your 2.7 double cabs 3rd gens? or if one was a 2nd gen how does the new 6spd compare to the 4spd auto in the gen 2's?

Yeah, if I was going to go with a 3rd gen, id definitely be buying the 4 cylinder, cant go wrong with a good ol 4 banger! :burnrubber:

Both of them were 3rd gens

    I have had 4 total lol one 2016 and 3 2017s

Before that was a 2014 access cab 2.7 auto

And then a 1999 regular cab 4x4 2.7 stick best truck ever!

So I've had the 4 speed and the 6 speed

The 6 speed is much better on the highway then the 4 speed just because your right keeps the truck in the power band better and has more use of the little mighty 2.7

Are you able to use the cruise on the highway at speeds over 70? Mine downshifts and stays there.

New owner of a 2017 Tacoma 2.7L DCSB in Atlanta, GA purchased in late November. Previous vehicle was a 2009 Dodge Caliber SRT4 (totaled) that I lightly modded. The Taco will be a daily driver and will haul my kayak and fishing gear on the weekends. Loving the truck so far. Saw its first snow 1 week after purchase, which is rare here in the south. Have added keyless entry and Weathertech floor liners so far, with plans to add step bars and cruise control.

Looking forward to contributing and getting to know everyone.

    FWIW...

When I had my 2013 Regular Cab 4x4 auto it would do that a lot.

I live in the Western Carolina Mountains and it was common. Eventually once the road leveled out it would upshift though.

It was hard for me to tell if at times I had different stages or torque converter lock-up, honestly I thing when using the cruise it just downshifted. Seemed to rev good but I just turned the radio up a bit.

Its that time of year..how are these trucks handling in the snow? The MPGs are alluring but in the DC area snow can be a pain for a few days out of the year...does loading up the bed and running decent tires solve snow woes?

Second snow of the season here in Atlanta. I’m happy with how she handles so far, despite being 4x2 and stock tires.

We don’t get much snow here.

I'm curious if anyone has climbed a mountain or tall hill with passengers in our tiny beast? Thinking about taking a trip up to Mountain High while there's at least a little snow. Currently on stock tires, but I'm hoping to pick up some falken wildpeak at/3 sometime in the next couple weeks!

Finally got the lift wheels and tires in today

Added some braided lines for a little extra stopping power too

You’ll be good. You just have to be strategic on how you drive up bigger hills. On the steep stuff you’ll be in 3rd.

Not sure what more you're looking for. If you're concerned about driving in snow, then go 4x4.

Good snow tires is all you need with the 2wd and traction control

My truck currently after a 2/1” leveling kit. Just ordered some 265/75 KO2’s and I’ll be crossing my fingers that the weight/size difference wont be too much of a punch! I’ve been told by 2 tire shops where I’m at that the difference shouldn’t be too bad so I’m hoping! :fingerscrossed:
