I know it's not much and might not be the first time you had snow but for Houston, TX...this is big! We had more snow about a month ago and we might get more today but for now, just a quick snapshot! At least this will help convince my wife to get some better tires sooner!!

So.......where's the snow? You need better tires to traverse those damp streets?

I can't tell what tires came with yours, but the stock Toyos on mine are pretty decent. On cold and wet tar snakes, they do make noise and the rears will set off ABS under braking. Other than that, they have been fun and plenty good in the snow.

I had some recent motorcycle tires that have acted weird on tar snakes also. I've never had that problem before. It might be some new compounds they are using?

Meh - stock tires that came with the Sport here in NH have been great in the snow. This is the second winter and I have driven in 8+" of un-plowed roads in 4wd and the truck is solid. Tires have 18500+ miles on them

Stock tires so far are doing ok. Where I live, we are getting 5"-8" today and tonight. Our weather forecast has no "winter storm warning" or "winter weather advisory" or even a "hazardous weather outlook." We get snow so often (and we are rural) it's just forecast like rain. Usually if we are supposed to get a foot or so we will get the "winter storm warning" thing. Best part? Nobody panics. Store shelves don't empty, people don't go home at noon, etc. We just take it in stride. We all know that, this time of year, it's best to have a extra loaf of bread or batteries and to make sure you have fuel in your truck.

Stock Goodyears have been doing good for me as well. No complaints.

This is the snow we are getting in north west Louisiana today! Not used to driving in the snow but took it nice and slow and the Tacoma handled it with no problem

All a matter of perspective I guess. To me the stock Goodyears on my OR are not very good in snow and ice. But, up here I have had vehicles with winter tires for last 10+ years before the Tacoma. I had a Tundra before the Tacoma and I ran studded winter tires. So yeah compared to that the Goodyears lack. I think next season I will upgrade.

Definitely. Winter tires are straight up stellar. We had a set of winters on spare rims for our old wagon that had some all seasons that were closer to a summer tire. The problem there was that running the winter tires in the dry, even in mid-winter, the wear was pretty bad. They also took a lot of fun out of driving in snow. I couldn't slide much unless I was doing some stupid speeds.
