If I get diesel badges so that everybody knows then I'm in for one.

Folks seriously need to move on from the tired diesel hopes already, IMO. It's not likely ever going to happen. There is almost zero demand for them in the US, and they're extremely hard to make EPA complaint.

When the Tacoma gets a new engine, it will in all likelihood be a hybrid.

Meh - I guess it helps to offer it as an option, but not for me. I went into this buying decision looking the baby-durmax and well, came home with a Taco. The increased amount you would spend to have a diesel on the Colorado out weighs any benefits you get from having the baby-durmax. I do not belie you will get your money back from adding that option and it simply pissing cash into the tank.

That's the other thing. With the price of the diesel option, plus how much more expensive diesel is per gallon (at least here), I can't imagine ever making the money back.

Plus, in my area, it's hard to find places that even sell diesel, and it's usually a single pump.

We have diesel pumps here, but the cost out ways the benefits for a mid-size mini-diesel. I can see the 1-tons and larger truck, which are common. These guys plow, haul equipment, tow construction equipment etcc...They need the power, torque, and beefiness of these larger trucks - NOT in the market for Colorados and tacos.

Who wants to pay all that extra $$ on stinky diesel?

I bet most folks that wish they had a diesel engine have never owned one.

I owned a Ford Super Duty with the Powerstroke V8...It was a great truck...But never again.

I've often wondered when Toyota is going to change up the Tundra. The current 5.7 and six speed transmission are rock solid, and have been for years, but you have to think they are looking towards something more fuel efficient, for better or worse. The only thing I can think is that while Toyota dominates the smaller truck market, they aren't competitive at all (in terms of sales) for the full size. So maybe they figure why bother changing it up? I plan on getting a Tundra for my next truck, but I'm just not sure how soon. In 3 more years, will they still have the same engine/transmission package?

Funny, I was just thinking something similar...Toyota is being awfully like Honda motorsports. Old Skool Honda guys desperately want Honda to bring back 2-Stroke dirt bikes, like old timer Toyota fans want to see the diesel, manual trans, boxed frame HiLux come back to the US...neither is gonna happen.

Honda Motorsposrts is being somewhat innovative, but going about it all wrong...nothing too-too terribly exciting in their current line-up. Kinda like the Tacoma, just the same ol' repackaged thing.

I believe the Tundra 5.7L lead the pack when it came out but is way behind now.... they haven’t even tweaked or updated that engine slightly in 11 years..... rumour I heard was 2021 for a new tundra drivetrain. Sure hope it’s sooner, the tech and features from the 2019 big 3 are way to far ahead.

As for more power out of the 3.5L, wait for the Supercharger to drop.

Tacoma kills the ranger and Canyon/Canyon I’m exterior. Look at a limited full load interior compared to denali, way cleaner. The ford interior looks like all there interiors, cheap plastic like previous Tacoma generations.

    Toyota does make a 2.0T 4cyl engine at 241hp 254ft/lbs... bring back a straight six 3.0T 361hp 381 ft/lbs... now that would be a dream
