Yeah, it should be an epic drive. I passed a half dozen accidents on my way to work. It wasn't even that bad! Most accidents I've seen so far this year on my 40 mile highway commute.

Our company(sales rep job) policy is, “if you feel uncomfortable driving in the snow, stay home” but the catch is they’ll dock you a sick day.. so I just venture out to stores close to the house and take it real slow. They give us FWD escapes with snow tires and this second one I’ve had (2018) actually isn’t terrible for basically a Ford Focus with a hatch.

Our company gives us awd cars in the northeast. right now I think it's new fusions, pretty loaded up too. I'd take one but I like having the allowances instead

We’re told that with AWD cars they’re worried we would drive faster... but I’m pretty sure it’s just to pad someone’s bonus

The last company I worked for stopped buying 4wd trucks for that reason. They said they'd get calls much more frequently about one of the 4x4s being stuck up to the axles on a jobsite. With the 2wd trucks, people were generally smarter about where they'd drive. Apparently they used to have 4wd trucks but the evidence was overwhelming that it was a bad idea

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
In the town where I work they haven't even started treating the roads yet (not that I can tell anyways) and yet I got caught behind a school bus today. I'll tell you what if my kid got hurt on his/her way to school today there would be hell to pay!

Filled out a tax abatement today. The town randomly increased value of my house by about 15%. A good portion of that is from a pergola/canopy that they mysteriously tripled the value on. It's now worth close to what a small garage would be somehow. I sent them my appraisal from less than a year ago and inflated it by 2.33% which is apparently average housing inflation per year over the past 17 years. I'm still significantly under their number but well above what I paid for the house so I don't think I'm at all unreasonable. Hopefully they accept that.

The town is pretty much at their levy limit, so I think the assessors tried to squeeze out everything they could to raise the town value.

Thought it was supposed to taper off after lunch/2ish though. Sounds give the dot enough time to clear the highways somewhat.

    Morning all!
Only crappy part of my commute was the jackass in a CR-V that pulled out in front of me (close enough that I had to slam my brakes on to keep from hitting him) and then did 20mph in a 45 all the way in to town. The really irritating part was that there was nobody behind me, so if he'd waited another 3 seconds he wouldn't have had to deal with my plow lights (on high beam), spotlights, and whirly light right in his rear window the whole way in. Because I was REALLY pissed off after he cut me off like that, so I closed up until I was right on top of his bumper and flipped on all of the lights, just for him.

Don't normally piss off that easy, but he almost caused an accident and I was MAD

Dropped the kiddo off at daycare at 9, and came into work.

Back, side, and back roads are messy... real slushy. Main roads are wet, and just slushy in between the lanes.

Building was already open even though the message said we open at 10. Got in at about 9:25-9:30, and there were 6 or 7 cars already here.

I was tempted. Especially since I've got the plow on the front; I could have angled it just right to kick his tail end out and into the ditch he'd go.

Morning y'all! Molly had to go in today, and I need to be productive after being lazy all last week, so I decided to drive in. She wanted to get up and go this morning, so I made it to the office by 9 for once!

The drive in was fine, saw one guy who had slid off the road, but besides that it was clear. Littleton has a whole lot more snow than Somerville. I'll probably head home early so I don't have to drive in the snow and the dark, but who knows.

It's empty here. Everyone else is WFH. Ugh.
